It.
I think the "not liking streaming" comes from stubbornness and refusal to adapt to new technology more than it comes from anything else. There isn't any practical reason why you would want to carry around and stick CDs into your car vs plugging in your phone or using it over BT.
Thats not an insult, some people just have a strong resistance to new technology or ways of doing things.

That makes no sense. Because I have no interest in using my phone as a streaming device. I don’t listen to a lot of music, however every now and then I get a few new library CDs to listen to in my vehicle I am driving or on my higher end (but 25+ year old) sound system in my home office. Sometimes I would also buy a new country CD for an artist I really like.
(I do have a library on my iPod though)

Good, you know what? I'm not an audiophile so I don't try to listen to some barely-noticeable sound difference between a "high quality" song and one on XM. Good for you though.
If you and Steve don't like how some of us prefer CD's and radio and not having to play with phones and technology and all this garbage these days, just leave us alone on it. It's getting quite annoying how you both keep putting us down on our choices.

I have no issue with you liking what you like, its the refusal to accept that you're in the minority and that companies that design products design them for the majority. I love soft riding sedans, but I accept that I am in a rapidly shrinking group and I don't blame carmakers for abandoning the product I like because I recognize selling me one once every 3 years can't sustain them.
Case in point, one of the guys who works for me is really tech backwards, I mean REALLY tech backwards. He doesn't even have an ATM card, he goes into the bank and deposits and withdraws money from a teller. They closed his bank branch across the street from our office and he was all pissed off about it and about how banks are closing physical branches and going to tellerless locations in the ones they do keep open. Well...he doesn't want to do business the way most people want to do business...and he's got to understand that they can't keep a bank branch open and staffed just for him and the few other people in the rapidly shrinking group that wants what he wants. You can say "hey, there are people who want that" but, the place is always empty and it has been for years...can't run a business that way.
I had a meeting with a big team from our company to look at new space today, one of the company's top salespeople came along. He was complaining how we don't have desk phones and where he came from (a very old and backwards company) does. Well, I can respect he prefers a desk phone, but the other 170 salespeople we have don't want desk phones...and having desk phones in our office doesn't fit our brand image...and I can't put in a phone system just for him. He'll have to muddle through.
When a company like Lexus does things like continues to put CD players in their cars and these old digital clocks it telegraphs to the majority of buyers that they are behind the times and their products are designed for people who aren't as current as they are. THATS why this is a design mistake. Makes the brand and the product seem staid and old.

DVD players since around 2008
While waiting on your pick up order or school dismissal catch up on a favorite movie! HOME, Minions, Avengers, Iron Man, Foghorn Leghorn, Live Concert DVD.

I can do that on my phone lol.
Thats another thing we needed that we no longer need...built in entertainment systems for our kids. They just sit there unused and the kids use their tablets. Since we have no DVDs we had to burn DVDs to play movies on them anyways. Since our computers no loger have optical drives...that has become pretty hard.
Another great thing about streaming. I'm watching a show right now on Netflix. I was laying in the living room watching it, paused it and went out and sat in the hot tub, started it up again on my ipad, paused it, went to bed, started it up again on the TV in the bedroom. Can't do that with a DVD...at least nowhere near as seamlessly. THATS what I like, things being seamless and easy.

I am mesmerized that the new 2022 Land Crusier has a CD slot.

See, that's another issue. This entire country wants to get to a point where everything is automatic. Watch as much TV as you can cram into a day, check as much activity on facebook as possible, etc. You guys aren't completely satisfied with how things are. You are wanting more and more. That has trickled into the car business.
Years ago I got into the smartphone game. I would be on my phone during lunch, doing what everyone else did: thumb through facebook, any other social media platform. Text some people, etc. I wouldn't have any proper time to "reflect" and relax my mind. That's what is missing from society. No one can shut off the electronics. They need as much activity from these as possible. People can't go an entire day without reaching for a tablet or a phone. My kids are 4 and 5 and have never used a tablet. Not once, and I don't plan on starting now with it. There is literally no reason for kids this young to have all this nonsense. Going outside and playing, socializing, reading books, coloring, playing with legos, etc. The list goes on.
It's kind of scary to think how we occupied our time in say 1992. I was only 4 but still, you get the point.
Let me guess, somehow I'm wrong with what I just said.

That goes both ways. You've said we have been brainwashed into liking these technologies multiple times.

This is a home preference but I like having a phone line. I have lost all of the cordless headsets, though, so I'm paying for nothing currently.

I am sure that 30 years from now will be vastly different than today. At the end of the day, people can do what they want and what they prefer.
Cheers 🍺🍺

‘I don’t have a home line anymore. No cable TV since 2009. Just a bunch of apps to watch programs. I do get live tv via a number of apps. But not a ton of channels.
