Thats not an insult, some people just have a strong resistance to new technology or ways of doing things.
Has nothing to do with stubbornness or refusal to adapt. I just don’t care to have subscription and stream music. I do buy a few albums every now and again from Apple…but I also buy a CD here and there. I do steam Tune In Radio radio every night at bedtime…just don’t need it for the car

certainly but hey, vinyl records are really popular today too... some like the kinesthetic aspect and with physical goods, the 'collecting' side.

Sometimes I would also buy a new country CD for an artist I really like.

(I do have a library on my iPod though)
do you connect the ipod to your car (or bluetooth)? then you're streaming.

When I do. I connect to the lightning cable. I never use Bluetooth as my phone and iPod (really a iPhone 6s) can’t really coexist

That goes both ways. You've said we have been brainwashed into liking these technologies multiple times.

I have no issue with you liking what you like, its the refusal to accept that you're in the minority and that companies that design products design them for the majority. I love soft riding sedans, but I accept that I am in a rapidly shrinking group and I don't blame carmakers for abandoning the product I like because I recognize selling me one once every 3 years can't sustain them.

Case in point, one of the guys who works for me is really tech backwards, I mean REALLY tech backwards. He doesn't even have an ATM card, he goes into the bank and deposits and withdraws money from a teller. They closed his bank branch across the street from our office and he was all pissed off about it and about how banks are closing physical branches and going to tellerless locations in the ones they do keep open. Well...he doesn't want to do business the way most people want to do business...and he's got to understand that they can't keep a bank branch open and staffed just for him and the few other people in the rapidly shrinking group that wants what he wants. You can say "hey, there are people who want that" but, the place is always empty and it has been for years...can't run a business that way.

I had a meeting with a big team from our company to look at new space today, one of the company's top salespeople came along. He was complaining how we don't have desk phones and where he came from (a very old and backwards company) does. Well, I can respect he prefers a desk phone, but the other 170 salespeople we have don't want desk phones...and having desk phones in our office doesn't fit our brand image...and I can't put in a phone system just for him. He'll have to muddle through.

When a company like Lexus does things like continues to put CD players in their cars and these old digital clocks it telegraphs to the majority of buyers that they are behind the times and their products are designed for people who aren't as current as they are. THATS why this is a design mistake. Makes the brand and the product seem staid and old.

I can do that on my phone lol.

Thats another thing we needed that we no longer need...built in entertainment systems for our kids. They just sit there unused and the kids use their tablets. Since we have no DVDs we had to burn DVDs to play movies on them anyways. Since our computers no loger have optical drives...that has become pretty hard.

Another great thing about streaming. I'm watching a show right now on Netflix. I was laying in the living room watching it, paused it and went out and sat in the hot tub, started it up again on my ipad, paused it, went to bed, started it up again on the TV in the bedroom. Can't do that with a DVD...at least nowhere near as seamlessly. THATS what I like, things being seamless and easy.

Does it play blue ray audio?

I am mesmerized that the new 2022 Land Crusier has a CD slot.

I think it’s wonderful Mercedes offers a dealer CD player. (Lexus gets it right and makes it standard)

See, that's another issue. This entire country wants to get to a point where everything is automatic. Watch as much TV as you can cram into a day, check as much activity on facebook as possible, etc. You guys aren't completely satisfied with how things are. You are wanting more and more. That has trickled into the car business.

Years ago I got into the smartphone game. I would be on my phone during lunch, doing what everyone else did: thumb through facebook, any other social media platform. Text some people, etc. I wouldn't have any proper time to "reflect" and relax my mind. That's what is missing from society. No one can shut off the electronics. They need as much activity from these as possible. People can't go an entire day without reaching for a tablet or a phone. My kids are 4 and 5 and have never used a tablet. Not once, and I don't plan on starting now with it. There is literally no reason for kids this young to have all this nonsense. Going outside and playing, socializing, reading books, coloring, playing with legos, etc. The list goes on.

It's kind of scary to think how we occupied our time in say 1992. I was only 4 but still, you get the point.

Let me guess, somehow I'm wrong with what I just said.

Wait a second... so because someone prefers a regular phone, somehow it doesn't align with what your company is aiming towards? What a bunch of garbage. There is NOTHING wrong with a plain phone. Perhaps he doesn't want to fool around with some asinine touchscreen where you hold a 5 inch screen and tap it numerous times to make a call. Some things have gotten completely out of hand. Thank god I'll never have to worry about something like that. That's pretty bad. Lol

Yeah that's part of the reason why GOOG and NFLX are where they are at. I was skeptical when Netflix was introduced and thought it would never catch DVD quality. Those rear entertainment options are not practical imo but some still buy. You can share hotspot and the kids are set on and off road with their tablets. Btw, can you screen mirror on your benz? You can do that on bimmer. Eventually I think they will add Netflix app or alike to the infotainment.

This is a home preference but I like having a phone line. I have lost all of the cordless headsets, though, so I'm paying for nothing currently.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Times have changed and how individuals occupy their time has changed. Not a fair comparison 1992 vs 2021.

I am sure that 30 years from now will be vastly different than today. At the end of the day, people can do what they want and what they prefer.

Cheers 🍺🍺

‘I don’t have a home line anymore. No cable TV since 2009. Just a bunch of apps to watch programs. I do get live tv via a number of apps. But not a ton of channels.
