Pole Position
Going hybrid is not a bad idea though. Take the 2.4L, spin it to 300hp and throw in a mild hybrid to assist with low end torque

Spyshot from TFL. It's a sedan not coupe, which leads me to believe that this is merely the next-gen ILX based on the new Civic, but renamed as the Integra to bring in those nostalgia bux.

This is fake.

"The 'spy shots' you reference appear to be the work of a skilled photoshop artist. While we appreciate the enthusiasm for our past products, the vehicle depicted here is not a Honda or Acura development prototype," Acura spokesperson Chris Naughton told Motor1.com.

It is supposed to be a coupe and also a sedan or four door type coupe, the drone outline of the Integra looked like a coupe. Rumors are the ILX is dead and the Integra will not be related to the ILX. The ILX has been a dud, they are not likely to do a new gen, calling it a Integra won't work because they would be pretty different cars.

The last ILX was a dud because it used the last-last-gen Civic as a base. That won't be an issue here as this is clearly based on the latest Civic, as seen by the wheels. Also, four doors will always outsell two.

The original Integra came as both a coupe and sedan. Perhaps they will mirror the past and provide both, providing a coupe for those that would have gone for a Civic coupe, and a sedan for those who want an upscale but small 4 door.

You won't be happy with an Acura Integra in that case. However Honda will soon offer a plug-in hybrid version of the CRV and HRV and Acura will do a hybrid of their RDX or something else. Any of those will fit right into your desire for a plug in hybrid SUV.
The Integra is a low to the ground small 2+2 two door hatchback driver's car sports coupe with a short wheelbase. Completely different type of vehicle compared to any SUV.
Either this new Integra will use a version of the Civic Si or Civic Type R drivetrain or it will be a performance hybrid of some kind. However if Honda were ready (they're not) to jump into a fun EV sports hatchback I would say their new and exciting successor to the old two-stage cam "DOHC VTEC" fun of the 1990's would be a super-capacitor being a key part of the a future performance Honda EV driveline. Those are not yet ready for prime time yet but once they are in a few years I can fully see Honda/Acura capitalizing on the instant boost of power and fun that they could provide.
For this generation Integra though I strongly suspect there will be a hybrid version of the Si or Type R engines. I'd love to see them offer a 6-speed manual pure gas spec Integra one last time as well.
It will be interesting to see where Honda/Acura takes this.

The new one needs to give people something to talk about or generate some excitement. People fondly remember and reminisce the Honda of old and when people mention V-TEC, it sends shudders down the spines of its competitors. Honda and Acura needs to recapture that magic or this will just be another NSX.

Integra was an Acura coupe based on the Civic. ILX was an Acura sedan based on the Civic. The spyshot car has four doors. Put two and two together. I don't care what Acura marketing brands this car as, it's an ILX.

Rumors are the ILX is dead, the Integra is not likely just to be a new ILX with a Integra name as the ILX is a very different car then a Integra or what a Integra should be. Lots of cars are based on other cars, it does not mean they are very similar, Supra was based on a SC300, they were very different cars. The Integra especially 2nd Gen on was a far more sporty nicer car then the Civic, it offered features not available in Civics along with engines that power wise/performance wise often exceeded what Accords offered when it came to 4 cylinders. They debuted Vtec on the Integra, first Type R in the States was a Integra. If you got in and drove the civic and Integra from the same generations they felt pretty different, the Civic felt like a relatively inexpensive economy car without much power where the Integra felt like a sporty much more performance oriented car with a much nicer interior, more solid build, more power, pretty big step up from a Integra, in some ways as nice or nicer then a Accord. The RSX looked nothing like a Civic, very different cars in almost every way aside from sharing platforms. The ILX is not very sporty, it would not cut it as a Integra, they will have make it more unique, more special, much more performance oriented to fit in with a Integra name which would not fit a ILX.

This is pointless hair-twisting. The ILX was the successor to the Integra just like the RLX was the successor to the Legend. However good the Integra was in the past means absolutely nothing in the modern context, because how good the Integra/ILX is depends on how good the Civic it's based on is.
In the case of the Integra, I think they will do well with a coupe and sedan/5 door hatch combination, like the did with the first three generations. I hope they won't rebadge a Honda HRV as an Integra Sport SUV, like Mitsubishi did to the poor Eclipse.
