I surmise an electric G-Glass would be called EQG. Mercedes should watch the Hummer EV very closely

Agreed, it's bad. Give me an IS500 with a V8, I could not care less how much faster the AMG is. 4 cylinder engines aren't very pleasant no matter how "good" they are.

For the record, the V8s are going to return for 2023 in relevant models. This isn't the end of the V8s in the U.S. just yet.

Good, because the CLA43 AMG 4 cylinder is utter trash.

Interesting perspective- I actually think that motor is great. A bit of lag on the low end but it actually likes to rev. It is half the V8 after all. The 2nd-gen CLA45 is so much better driving than the first.

I am curious to see how the 4-cylinder hybrid C63 turns out...going to miss the V8 sound in that car regardless of the performance.

I'm still hoping the 4 cylinder C43 is just MB's attempt to troll, and its going to be a proper V8.

anyway, this is about V8's not EVs.

yes, nothing will be the same in a few short years. it won't be the end of the world without v8s.

before my LC my last V8s were my '00 Lexus GS400 and '04 F150. after those i had v6, v6, and v6tt, and none of those bothered me one bit. my santa fe is a 4cyl turbo, and more than adequate for its use. and at cruising speed the car is VERY quiet.

they'll just add some fake sound.

Most people do have garages to park cars in, but you don't need to have a garage to charge a car at your home.

The issue with the 4cyl turbo is how it sounds and feels when accelerating, at cruising speed they're all largely the same.

Has anyone tested one yet? I have to see what they say. I just can't get my head around it.

Porsche went 4 cylinder on the 718 I believe, Porsche fans don't generally care for it based on what I know from a few Porsche-obsessed.

Thats just a mental hangup that you will get over. My cars are sitting in the garage right now, having them plugged in while sitting there is no big deal.
If u r so bz u have to top of your current car you have to top off your EV and it wont be just a few minutes.

It is not a mental hangup. The reality is the infrastructure and tech isnt ready for mass adoption. It is getting there though.

It's just an overclocked four cylinder, lol. If I was into such things, I'd get a CTR or an STI, but it's completely out of character for AMG.

Yes, agree totally 100%. PLENTY of extremely high performing four cylinders I'm not questioning ability, but they're still going to sound and feel like s***.

Why would I have to do that? If I drive 700-1000 miles in a week, I will have to fill up twice. But, my car would have 350 miles of range every morning. So unless I drive more than 350 miles in one day, I won't have to do anything but charge it at night.

Not necessarily, there are some absolute epic legendary four cylinders, such as the NA b18c5 in the ITR or the F20/22C in the S2000, and of course the turbo fours in the EVO and STI. But these are all out boy racer cars, while the AMG is a mans toy and with a four cylinder its just pathetic on every level.

It depends, a seriously overclocked 4 can sound very good if you allow it to.
