It will. Small batch. This is how brands survive and build heritage . They make things that people want to talk about, all the while the masses buy crossovers

Yep. Who gives a hoot that it's an old V8. I said a few months back, "It's 2021 and the only sport sedan in that category that comes with a V8 is a damn Lexus." Bravo. They will sell like hotcakes.

depending on size of 'small batch' it may not last long. let's face it, lexus doesn't have a good track record with limited production vehicles - they come, and they go.

Agreed, this will be around a couple years and then gone, they'll sell a few thousand of them.

Does not really matter how many they sell. The fewer the better. Small batch stuff like this is how brands get their heritage. As Mercedes continues to dilute their brand with 4 cylinder AMG stuff that are built on FWD chassis designs…here comes Lexus with a rwd, 5.0 V8. Then you add naturally aspirated….people will remember….IS350 F sport is the fastest selling four door sedan in America BTW….Toyota knows what they are doing

One car does not excuse Lexus' many such insults to enthusiasts with their model line. Don't get me wrong, we'll take it, but to say that Mercedes has done more of this than Lexus is completely dishonest.

Dealer turnover on a car indicates nothing about how fast a car sells. Its a ratio of demand vs. supply that dictate that number. Certain cars have backorders that span for months so in theory, they have 0 day turnover but does that make it the fastest selling car? Lexus misjudged demand so there is a backlog of orders and demand that is driving that turnover number. Nothing more.

I would still drive my LX with $6 gas (screw em!); granted we don't drive much so it wouldn't be a humongous deal cost wise. Trucks that transport our goods across the country aren't going EV anytime soon (regardless of what Time magazine says) and they rely on fossil fuels. I really don't think gas will be expensive like this forever, it will go back down.
Right now, gas is about 5.00 a gallon in CA. Of course the location matters, but still quite ridiculous.

I'm late to the show and have not gone through all the comments, but I think we all saw this coming. The downsizing trend has been going on since 2014 trying to make the same power from 1.5L and 2.0L turbocharged engines but with better fuel efficiency. The 3.5L V6 and V8 are probably going to be gone the exception being niche sports vehicles like the Corvette, Camaro and Dodge Charger/Challengers

I don't want to get into another gas price argument, but I live in the heart of Silicon valley and I just filled up $4.18 Premium at Costco. The more expensive places like Chevron are $4.44 a gallon. Unless you live in an area where there's only one or two gas stations, I would find another gas station if I were you

Mercedes Killing Nearly All V8s For 2022MY Due To Supply Issues

The culling was allegedly needed because of supply chain issues.

In our roundup of every vehicle being killed for the 2022 model year, one entry came from Mercedes-Benz and that's the Mercedes-AMG GT R. However, it seems like there's a long list to be added, according to a Reddit post from user bsw1234, who provided proof to the moderators of the r/cars thread.

According to the post, nearly all V8-powered Mercedes vehicles, including all AMGs, aren't going to be sold in the US for the 2022 model year. The reason for the culling is connected, but not limited to, global supply chain issues.

These models include AMG C63, AMG GLC 63, AMG E63, GLE 580, AMG GLE 63, AMG GLS 63, GLS600 Maybach, G550, and AMG G63. Only the S580 and S580 Maybach are spared by the said onslaught, according to the unposted document (due to privacy concerns).

Included text in the document that's posted on the thread seeks to provide an explanation:
MBAG has prioritized its focus to comply with various global, external and internal requirements, as well as several other factors, including but not limited to, challenges in the supply chain that have an impact on the product portfolio offered in the US market.
However, we have to point out that the alleged announcement will remain a rumor at this point until an official word from Mercedes-Benz comes out, if at all.

More importantly, the duration of the said move to cancel all V8s for 2022 isn’t clear at this point. But it goes without saying that it's going to be temporary, though Mercedes has already confirmed that the AMG C63 will be downsizing to a four-cylinder hybrid powertrain, moving forward.

We'll know more about this development in the next few days or so. Meanwhile, if you've ordered a 2022 model of one of the cars mentioned above, you might want to contact your dealer to verify the information.

Source: Reddit
This repaid confirmed by someone on YouTube who heard it from a Mercedes dealer

Yes there is no doubt it is true, all dealers received the memo on Netstar (internal network) on the 13th. My G63 order got canceled 2 days ago. Guess I'll be holding onto my 2019 a while longer...the dealer already offered to buy it for $90k than I bought it for.

Then Costco went down. On Monday I paid $4.25 for rag at Costco off Great Oaks in San Jose.
