Blech. I am not impressed by this vehicle at all. Everything behind the back door looks like it has been truncated. I'm sure the LX loyalists will love it and that's all that matters I suppose.

Toyota's new body-on-frame GA-F platform that makes the truck 20 percent more rigid than the old one while being 441 pounds lighter and boasting a lower center of gravity.

I'm not sure if I like that or not. It's better for efficiency though.

I don't know what it is about Lexus, but it makes me giddy. Nicely done

body looks 90+% the same as before even though it's a new platform.
nice refinements though.

it looks almost the same as mine outside, touchscreen is a huge welcome; I was hoping for more 3rd row space for kids. I like that ancient shifter, these new button shifters are maybe too modern, plus I manually shift using the (gear) shifter alot when off-road or in really bad weather

dropping 440lbs is great. same length wheelbase presumably to keep the off road cred (approach/departure), but it's still basically a 2 row. i think they're really going after range rover.

official promo video.

Interior really doesn't look all that nice, aside from the rear executive package. Huge bezels on the screen, lots of plasticky-looking metal and buttons. The exterior is decent enough.

I don't believe they've released that info. All we have to go by is the engine in the 2022, and specs from 2021 LX 570. That said rigidity is up, weight is down, fuel economy is likely up, power is up

2021
5,800 - 6,000 lbs
12 / 16 mpg
5.7L V8 383 hp @ 5,600 rpm Torque 403 lb-ft @ 3,600 rpm

2022
At best 5,400 lbs (5,400 to 5,600 lbs sounds reasonable)
xx / xx mpg
3.5L TTV6 409 hp and 479 lb-ft

Not as big of a change as I was expecting. The electric razor grille... I just don't see anything attractive about that choice. F-Sport grille much better.
Not sure why Lexus isn't moving to a full digital gauge package by now. Not an efficient use of space, but not the end of the world.
I'd wager this will sell okay, but feel Lexus could have raised the bar higher.

If that's how you see it, I think a lot of SUVs look "truncated".

Yep that's all that counts. Even non LX too. Any change to that dinosaur interior would work.

After almost a year, I'm still not comfortable with the joystick. I always have to double check to make sure it's parked. Lol. I don't mind this ancient shifter at all. And I certainly would rather want this over the levers used in some other high end SUVs.

Same here... and that back view. It will be a hot sale for sure regardless what the "experts" say. I will wait for it to cool down. Hope it won't be too crazy.

Brings the LX into this decade, but I think it won't move the needle for the brand. This is not the GLS/X7 fighter that dealers and consumers are looking for. I also don't think the full-size Range Rover has anything to worry about. It also will launch a full redesign soon, which will likely push Range Rover sales even further above this LX.
