Anyways, back the new LX...I'd be more happy if they carried over the 5.7 V8 to tell you the truth

LS430 was better than the 460 from everything I have read and heard.

Nice..glad you like the looks I love the looks haven't seen the new refresh as of yet....but every time I see a LS500, I wish I had one....I guess the low sales numbers makes it even more special when you see them

They definitely should offer the V8 as the entry level option. With less weight and a new transmission, FE should improve somewhat. They could detune it to 375hp to give it a bit more separation between the TTV6

Ok let's keep this about the LX, not the LS.

Or just keep the current 381hp V8 as the entry level. That thing ain't broke...no need for fixing.

Yes sir. Exactly. Just leave it. Like 381 hp is not enough

That engine is way too inefficient to keep around

Of course it is but majority of owners wouldn't mind, I'm sure this ttV6 is a beast..... but that whole sound and feel thing of the current one, owners love it. Not just for LX, in every application this engine is in it is praised (though yes they mention it's old). FWIW I get 20MPG highway at 70-75.

Toyota claims 6.7 seconds 0-60 with the new one, my guess is they're off by a second. All that extra power and 400lbs less? 6.7 is a sloooowww estimate. If it is 6.7 that's no faster than the V8.

It’s not just what owners would or wouldn’t mind. There are also all kinds of fuel economy requirements all over the world and Toyota gets dinged for having. Shocked that inefficient in their lineup. In this day and age there’s just no reason to have such an old and inefficient engine around.

For instance, now that I have a TTV8, I have no interest in a NA V8. The TT is better in every way. Feels faster, smoother and more refined, way more efficient to boot.

Lexus should have a TTV8, no question.

I don't agree with you that a twin turbo is needed. Please do not tell you also want that start=stop feature?

Ok lol. I see what GM is doing, a number of nice V8s, no twin turbo. That’s what is nice about the 5.7. It’s also nice and big for a V8. My V6 is 4 litres, no way would I want a downsized V6 with turbos. My other one is 4.7 and is just lovely for a V8

Well they briefly had the Blackwing tt DOHC V8 but killed it, made zero sense to me. Talk about wasting money.

I don't want anything downsized either. My 5.7 is a beast. It has excellent acceleration up to 100 or so where drag starts to work against it. Sounds as burly as any V8 I've ever heard.

It's apparently an anomaly and I'm the only one who's reported it, but like I said I get 20 MPG HWY. That's good for any heavy BOF, even still today pretty much.

Having had both, it’s no comparison. The TTV8 is far superior. This engine in my S560 is an order of magnitude more refined than the old Lexus NA 4.6 or the 5.7. Power is incredible, grunt off the line is incredible, and I get 20% better fuel economy than I got before in a similar size and weight vehicle with way less power.

Start stop, no way but that’s much improved with a 48v mild hybrid.

TTV6 should meet the needs of anybody in this vehicle but the feel won’t be the same.
