Low the ground as in to looks lower overall. For example. the Q7 has a ride height of 68.5 inches, Audi Q8 is 67.2 a Toyota Highlander is 68.1 inches In height. The hood height is gonna a lot lower In the Q7 and Q8 compared to a truck based SUV I am sure, BMW has 71.1 in height.

This is just one area so not really a point, but I definitely see as many LXs as all of those German crossovers you mentioned around my neck of the woods.

But we have the sales figures, they sell exponentially more of those vehicles than they do the LX. I think its more just the LX standing out to you because you like it so much.

Sales figures don't really tell the entire story.

Audi Q7 Is $56K LOL
The GLS starts at $77K
The X7 starts are $74.9K
Escalade starts at $75K
Toyota Land Cruiser $86K 2021 version
Lexus LX600 is $88K 2022 version

The LX sells ~ 4500 units a year in the US. Last year they sold 23,000 X7s, 24,000 GLSs, 25,000 Q7s...

Of course they tell the whole story when it comes to what cars sell more. The LX does not sell dramatically less because its base price is $10k more expensive. I would venture to bet ATP of the GLS and X7 are higher than the LX.

Each one of these sell 5 to 1 vs. the LX!

Lol no, I’m not imagining it. I check out virtually every car I see. This is just a heavy heavy, trucky SUV area. Lots and lots of LC200s too. I know they don’t sell that well but around here they do.

I don't even think the LX competes with the Germans crossovers that are mentioned. . its more expensive. has a body on frame design. solid axle. its like niche for special Lexus buyers. kinda like a g wagon is for special MB buyers.

With each of the Germans when you start adding engine and trim options, AMG, M, S Line etc. they get even more expensive too.

its hard to compare cars on paper, which LX loses every single time. It has been losing since lx450 in the mid 90s. most of you need to have it in the garage and drive it for a while to appreciate it.

I do wonder if not enough was changed to lure the LX 570 owners to a 600 or more importantly to attract customers from other brands.

Sales have been low for years, and for some reason it appears Lexus does not want to compete in the large SUV segment.

I will still take a test drive in one, if and when they start showing up.

IMO the base LX is the best option. At 88,250 it fills in nicely for a 5 seat LC. Shame no ventilated seats or ability to get ML stereo, but if I was going to upgrade from my GX the base is what I would go for. The main bummer for me is the elimination of the split gate - sounds stupid to say, but that was the main thing I wished the GX had the LC/LX had.

Sure. LX sells dramatically less in USA because it is not primarily made for US market, and is traditional body on frame SUV compared to those vehicles you mentioned.
Lexus does that because worldwide, they manage sell around 40k units of LX, slightly more than GLS that sells the best in USA.

Overall considering it is based on very successful LC200 that sells 10x that number, I am pretty sure LX continues to be bigger success story for Lexus than GLS, X7 or Q7 do for their brands.

When we talk about sales and success, US market is only a part of that story. If there was no GCC where LC and LX own the market, LX would not have been body on frame anymore and it would have sold better in USA, just like RX owns US market for midsize SUVs.
