Totally get why the did it, but the largest, most profitable car company could have done something a little extra special. The 0-60mph times are less than a .5 second quicker, so it’s a wash.

We all agree that a V8 is smoother than a V6..

looking forward to the test drive reviews.
The 4.7 and 5.7 were also used in Toyota products. Not all that exclusive was it? Plus it never had dir3ct injection, so not really the best right?

I don't want DI in my V8. Carbon deposits, audible ticking, etc. to save a few smidgen of MPG? No thanks! Just like start/stop and cylinder deactivation, HARD pass.

Not all newer tech is good tech. The LS460 had issues with ticking, so did our IS350. The GM V8s were bulletproof until they dropped in the cylinder deactivation....and start stop is horrendous in anything, even an S-Class according to SW an owner..

Toyota/Lexus direct and port injection solves the issues with carbon deposits and DI, its a non issue. Zero issues with DI in this setup.

I wouldn't call start/stop "horrendous".

I'm pretty sure it'll drive exactly like the new Land Cruiser.

"In this setup" though. They have had problems with other engines with it, but fair enough. 460 V8 wasn't nearly as quiet as the UZs before it, though.

Start/stop is bad enough that you jailbroke your car, lol. Even I wouldn't do that, but I don't blame you.

Not with port AND direct injection. The issues were with motors that were just direct injection with no port injection. I have never heard one instance of carbon buildup with Toyota engines that are direct AND port injected.

I plugged a $100 module into the computer and it made it remember the turn off setting after a restart. Lets not over-dramatize what I did lol

Lol I'm not. I wouldn't know how to do that. I'm sure I could figure it out.

Different topic, but here's another reason we love our big heavy BOF LC/LXs

except a unibody highlander gets even better results in the same tests.

LC would probably be safer than Highlander if they were to crash to each other, heavier car wins. And I would not call those results better. They are the same.

Toyotas dual injection is not an issue. Plus timing chains will never be as quiet as timing belts.

Large heavy trucks wont do as well as lighter vehicles. It will get crushed by its own weight when it hits a fixed barrier. In real life, there is a transfer of momentum and energy to the smaller vehicle. Unless u hit a tree or an 18 wheeler.

I don’t think the LX600 has start stop. And I agree, it is terrible. (Toyota has quietly added to some Lexus and Toyota models in the US)

As far as I'm concerned the TTV6 replacing the V8 is the least of the concerns for the LX. We all knew the V8 was going to die long before the vehicle even appeared in spyshots.

Not all newer tech is bad, like all things, too much of a good thing will be bad. Plus turbos are nothing new.

Start stop is terrible. New or old tech.
