The new LX will be interesting to watch. The turbocharged engine with more torque and horsepower than the 5.7 should be fun, but ultimately the acceleration will be impacted by the overall weight and what the transmission does to it.
maybe it requires 3rd gear shift now? Otherwise, dont know why else would it affect it.

LX with the 8 speed is geared differently than the LX with the 6 speed. Rear end gearing as well.

Thanks, worst post format ever award though lol. I just wanted to illustrate how easily it gets going. It’s also notable that the LX is the heaviest Toyota vehicle with this engine. It still flies.

That video will be good for reference for when the new one comes out if anyone posts any acceleration videos. Or sounds. I’ve been in an LS500 it sounded like ****.

Aside from Land Cruiser, other Toyota's with this engine only have part time 4WD....and Tundra is geared more aggressive...so the acceleration feels fast (which it is)

I also find the current LX labored when accelerating and having significant dive when braking and squat when accelerating. All of that makes the vehicle tiring to drive to me around town. I’ve driven it both with the 6 and 8 speeds, not a huge difference.

I agree with the reviewer that Lexus would be better served with a unibody vehicle in this segment.

Yes, the LQ crossover they definitely need. But Lexus can’t get rid of the LX it’s just too special.

I keep legitly looking for this infamous dive and squat that people talk about but I think it’s over exaggerated. The AHC does a very good job of managing all the mass. I’m not one of those that won’t point out shortcomings of my vehicle. I personally don’t even notice dive and squat unless it’s a hard, hard move.

Different strokes. It’s perfect, comfort palace for around town driving for me. Plenty of power and roomy inside. Great driving position.

Pretty obvious to me when I drive one.

I think an LQ crossover would keep 90% of LX buyers and expand on them. People don’t realize what sort of vehicle they are driving, very few people who buy the LX buy it for its BOF capability.

Oh, some do. It’s why we all wave at each other. But for the masses, no. LQ should be clear choice.

I will point out though that 6.5 0-60 for old ones versus 7.2 seconds for the new ones is a significant difference. .7 loss is a lot.

Like I said, 90%. And to be fair you did not buy yours new, so you wouldn’t count as one of those buyers we’re talking about. I’m talking about people who walk into a Lexus dealer and pay $95,000 for a new LX.

Sure, but plenty of people do mod the crap out of them. IH8Mud people will buy brand new ones and then mod them to death. I doubt some of these guys can break double digits MPG at all with some of the modding I’ve seen.

It happens, trust me. If I were filthy rich I’d buy an LX just for that like some of these guys do.

I wouldn’t mod mine bc I don’t want to compromise the ride, drive, and quiet interior. Other than Tundra swapable off road tires.
