Hopefully not too off topic, but the above made me curious about 0-60 times with the current (outgoing) LX.
Car and Driver tested a 2015 at 6.5 seconds for 0-60, with the 6 speed auto.
Car and Driver tested a 2016 and a 2018 LX, both with the 8 speed, at 7.2 seconds.
From this single data point, it does appear that the 8 speed had a fairly significant impact on 0-60 mph acceleration.
A similar thing happened with the GS350, though far less severe.
Car and Driver tested a 2013 GS350 RWD with the 6 speed and got 5.5 seconds 0-60.
Car and Driver tested a 2017 GS350 RWD with the 8 speed and got 5.8 seconds to 60.
The new LX will be interesting to watch. The turbocharged engine with more torque and horsepower than the 5.7 should be fun, but ultimately the acceleration will be impacted by the overall weight and what the transmission does to it.

LX with the 8 speed is geared differently than the LX with the 6 speed. Rear end gearing as well.

That video will be good for reference for when the new one comes out if anyone posts any acceleration videos. Or sounds. I’ve been in an LS500 it sounded like ****.

Aside from Land Cruiser, other Toyota's with this engine only have part time 4WD....and Tundra is geared more aggressive...so the acceleration feels fast (which it is)

I keep legitly looking for this infamous dive and squat that people talk about but I think it’s over exaggerated. The AHC does a very good job of managing all the mass. I’m not one of those that won’t point out shortcomings of my vehicle. I personally don’t even notice dive and squat unless it’s a hard, hard move.
Different strokes. It’s perfect, comfort palace for around town driving for me. Plenty of power and roomy inside. Great driving position.

Pretty obvious to me when I drive one.
I think an LQ crossover would keep 90% of LX buyers and expand on them. People don’t realize what sort of vehicle they are driving, very few people who buy the LX buy it for its BOF capability.

Oh, some do. It’s why we all wave at each other. But for the masses, no. LQ should be clear choice.
I will point out though that 6.5 0-60 for old ones versus 7.2 seconds for the new ones is a significant difference. .7 loss is a lot.

It happens, trust me. If I were filthy rich I’d buy an LX just for that like some of these guys do.
I wouldn’t mod mine bc I don’t want to compromise the ride, drive, and quiet interior. Other than Tundra swapable off road tires.
