Default Paint protection

Hello everyone;

I have a question about the paint protection that Lexus offers when you buy a new car;

I am currently in the middle of getting a new Lexus and they are offering me and bunch of different options to protect the car and I was wondering if
the paint protection is actually worth getting it costs $600 CDN

Also dose anyone know if it needs reapplying after you wash your car and how long dose it last once it is put on to the car
Thank you for any input you can provide

I don't know what kind paint protection they're offering but you're much better off spending your money on having a professional detailer prepare the paint and apply protection (ceramic coating) vs. a dealer offered product.

The dealer will have a great detailer handle it but how much talent and technique does it take to make a new car look good? It’ll be PermaPlate or a similar product. Probably has ceramic, they will claim it has platinum in it sometimes, whatever you want to hear. I have heard some of the attributes claimed when this product is pitched and it’s shameful. They’ll be glad to create a special blend for that price. It does require a fefresher coat once a year. However this is one line up of products that I have always felt was so overpriced, they include warranties and all kinds of inducements to make the $600 price tag a little more palatable. But let’s just leave it plain and consider their offer. $600 for a coat of wax! That should qualify as grand larceny! You can buy better wax online and wax it yourself or find someone to handle it (for u. Offer a teenager u know $50 to take care of it, that’s still overpaying but you can still feel like u got 95% off

Do yourself a favor and run from the dealer installed products and do search in your area for a reputable company that uses quality products. A good ceramic coat that has a long life may cost a little more but it will be worth it.

If you were thinking about getting paint protection film, again look outside the dealer. All of the local dealers around me charge a lot for minimal protection coverage and typically don’t wrap the film around the edges.

If you know he brand name of the product that will be used you can check online for reviews, videos etc. and get an idea of what peoples experiences have been.

I worked in a new car dealership for a few years and helped run this con on our customers. There is absolutely nothing regulating what statements can be made during the sales pitch. In 8 years total spent at the dealership we never even had someone attempt to use their “warranty” cause there was so much fine print and OEM paint is pretty good since they removed the lead from it. So if someone had a problem with Amy of the products it certainly wasn’t anything we caused. They must have gotten it repainted or something. It is seriously a giant scam perpetrated upon vulnerable customers who finally let their guard down now that a deal has been struck, and then they get a pitch that makes it sound like you want your big investment to be worthless in as little as as 6 weeks if you don’t spend an amount that normally you would never spend on this product.
It makes no difference to me, I try not to judge anyone else, and I certainly know that I have made more than a few decisions that made me feel foolish the next day. So i clearly should t be making any recommendations. I just cringe at my behavior when working at the dealership. This is actually not as expensive as you usually see. They sell it for as much as they want, so it was common we would charge over $10,000 for a full package amd clear bra: our cost was less than $100 and I got to keep 35% of the profit. I am not going to give anymore opinions about this, Just offering that little confession to clear my conscience somewhat.

Don't pay the dealership anything to "protect" your car, they are just charging you a arm and a leg to put a common wax/sealant on the car or some crappy weak cheap ceramic sealant that won't last a year.

Just do it yourself. You can get good ceramic coatings for $60 that will last several years, since your car is new you don't have to fix the paint/polish it in pretty much all cases.
