Lexus V8 swap in Volvo
I am thinking of doing a Lexus V8 project with v8 from GS 400 or LS 400. I have many ?? but not sure if I can think of all of them right now. First ? What transmissions can bolt up to the V8 5SP from Supra, Tundra 6 SPD from late model Supra? Has anyone done such a swap in another Lexus car? How tied into the cars chassis wiring harness is the engine harness? Anyhelp on this will be appreciated. MAN what a BUSY site..

I will be using a older Volvo retrofitting ABS and adding A/C. 1976 6 point roll cage and many other mods. All Volvo's used too be RWD until 1998 then all were FWD or AWD.Volvo's first FWD was 1993 850. Can anyone help me here ?

I think it would be a pretty cool project car. Theres a guy who swapped in the 3.8 turbo motor from the Buick Grand National into an old Volvo station wagon. Rusty old grocery getter was quick! I don't know about engine bay size on the Volvos, but if you got room in there you could have a really fun project car....if you know what I mean.

Have a look at the forums on http://www.lextreme.com. They deal more specifically with the V8 mechanicals, and i believe there are a few members doing V8 swaps into older cars...

turbo16psi, what model and year volvo you have exactly? I think a couple guys have been doing the Ford 5.0 engines in the 240's and 740's, what made you pick the 1UZ? ANyhow, you're right, it would make for a neat project. You ever post on volvospeed.com?

Give Converse (sp.) Engineering a call. This is the outfit who specializes in V8 Volvo conversions (they've done some for David Letterman and Paul Newman and possibly Nicholas Cage or Colin Powell but I don't recall which of the last two.)

It would be a 1976 245 wagon outfitted with ABS power windows and A/C power locks and of course full blown stereo. The car was given to me by a coworker. Minimal rust and dents I am familiar with convers I saw one of the 960 wagon's they did see link. http://swedespeed.com/features/featu...wn/index.shtml
Why I chose Toyota / Lexus in short I feel they are more reliable LIGHTER than american V8's and allot more involved to do a Lex swap but any way some one has beat me to it my brother and fabricator has brought this to my attention today see pic
Here is a pic of my wagon that I have now.
