Have to see it in person to get an idea of its size.

Do we know how "4WD HIGH" functions? If it functions in a 40/60 split the way fulltime 4WD Toyotas function then I don't have an issue with this, they're basically just giving you a 2WD option which I like personally.

Like in my old Explorer, I had 2WD, 4WD AUTO and 4WD LOW. You could leave it in AUTO if you wanted, this may work similarly. Having a pure 2WD option is nice for a highway trip, etc.

Last Sequoia had IRS and a great footwell, this new Sequoia is back to a knees up and in your face seating position.

Outgoing Sequoia 3rd row

Wagoneer

New GMs

Expedition

4WD High is universally known to be a feature of part-time transfer cases with a locked 50:50 split that's not supposed to be used on dry roads. It would be bizarre for them not to label it as 4WD Auto like other multi-mode transfer cases that have a separate 2WD mode.

It's just, maybe I missed the memo if things have changed.. But it's not good to leave a vehicle in 4WD HIGH unless it's slipping (like in a snowstorm) as it's hard on the drivetrain. Trucks with Auto 4wd even encourage you to leave it in 2 (My GMC does), and advise drive and use "Auto" in any slick conditions. It works well. High 4x4 left on is only called for in mudding, recurring slick situations, etc. and even then just leaving it in auto would be fine at least in my old dinosaur.

The 4WD High in part time 4wd Toyotas is very different from their full-time 4WD and multi mode 4wd systems and is not meant to be used in 4H on road.

Its bizarre for them to not have an automatic 4WD system, so I wouldn't put it past them. Bizarre to go back to a live rear axle too

Rear axle may be to placate old Land Cruiser customers, if so I'm seeing Toyota's strategy here. That Capstone Sequoyah is stunning and I'm sure will touch 80 grand loaded, not that far off from an old 200 Cruiser. I'm sure TRD version will be a true off road beast rather than off road capability **sort of** tacked on last generation.

Makes zero sense to placate the small number of LC customers at the expense of the much larger group of customers who will compare the vehicle to SUVs with IRS which will drive better. The LX is still here for those customers.

Why is it that Toyota just can't seem to put a vehicle together right now that hits all the boxes?

Nice to see the V35A being more implemented. I'd like to see the Sequoia's powertrain in the LX and LS, doesn't seem right to give these Lexus flagships less powerful versions

Sequoia
437 horsepower and 583lb-ft (Mild Hybrid)

Tundra
348 horsepower and 405lb-ft (base SR trim)
389 horsepower and 479lb-ft (majority Tundras)
437 horsepower and 583lb-ft (Hybrid)

Land Cruiser
409 horsepower and 479lb-ft

LX600
409 horsepower and 479lb-ft

LS500
416 horsepower and 442lb-ft

True.

I agree. I'm going to look into it see if I can find anything legit as to why they'd add a live axle. I don't believe towing capacity has increased significantly. It is bizarre. And like I said, I'm sure the Capstone will cost as much as a fully loaded domestic Tahoe, so 80 and some change. With part-time 4wd? It really is sort of mind boggling.
