LS500h AWD isn't available till early 2022 as per Lexus website.

COMING SOON: THE LS 500h AWD WITH LEXUS TEAMMATE

Debuting in early 2022 on the LS Hybrid, Lexus Teammate™,* comprising Advanced Drive and Advanced Park, represents the next level of driver convenience and the next leap forward for Lexus vehicles. It's transportation, transformed.
AWD on the LS500 currently is as such:

ALL-WHEEL DRIVE
Available on every LS model, full-time all-wheel drive delivers engine power to all four wheels. And a Torsen®* limited-slip center differential efficiently distributes it between the front and rear axles. This helps optimize traction, handling and control in a variety of driving conditions.

I think what they say is coming soon is the 500h with teammate...the 500h has always been offered with AWD.

I see what you mean. I misread the post as people thought AWD was standard which it is not. AWD has always been an option.

That I didn’t know. I always thought all wheel drive was standard on the hybrid Lexus

No it's been a $3K option on LS500, LS500 F-Sport, and LS500h since 2018

Now the LS600hL when it was around, that had standard AWD

Considering the cost compared to the LX, I think this one will sell well. Nice improvement.

Not sure what 4Runner you've had, but many of the 3rd gen 4Runner (96-02) had the multimode system which COULD be run in 4WD on pavement.
4th gen 4runner, the V8's had the full time 4wd system. I believe the V6's of that gen had the multimode, which has the Torsen center diff which could be locked when needed.

5th gen 4runner (current) only the Limited offers a full-time 4wd system, all other trims offer a part time system (similar to what's now being offered on Sequoia)

This Part time system, still electronically controlled, but 4WD High in this case should not be used on pavement.

You have a 2021 4Runner, don't you? Check pages 292 and 293 of the Owners' Manual. The H2 on the selector-**** is for 2WD High Range.
The four-wheel drive indicator comes on when H4 or L4 mode is selected.
  1. 1 H2 (high speed position, two-wheel drive)
Use this for normal driving on dry hard-surfaced roads. This position gives

greater economy, quietest ride and least wear.
  2. 2 H4 (high speed position, four-wheel drive)

Use this for driving only on tracks that permit the tires slide, like off-road, icy or snow-covered roads. This position provides greater traction than two-wheel drive.

When I had my 4Runner I was always kind of annoyed that I couldn't just drive in 2WD.

The same set up was in the outgoing 2021 Sequoia. Sadly, just went with a part time 4WD set up.

That set up is not the same. The switch is very misleading. The switch in the 4R is a full time system when in 4H …the set up in new Sequoia is not a full time system in 4H

Do we know this for sure? I don't know that we do...

This is what I suggested may be the case with the Sequoia
