Sad to see Toyota do such a poor effort. They claim it would have been great 10 years ago

i really like the way it looks too. Can also see the resemblance between it and the smaller Rav4 next to it (similar taillight design and license plate placement). However, its too bad everything else is apparently lacking.

I love how they look, its just the execution of the product that has too many fatal flaws. I wouldn't even consider one, sadly.

I saw my first one this weekend too. I absolutely love the styling of this thing. I'm fine with the powertrain and such, but do have concerns about some of the interior packaging, in particular the third row and cargo layout. I would want to check that out in person.

The powertrain is fine, my issue is the interior packaging which is terrible in the third row, and the lack of auto/fulltime 4WD

The weight doesn't bother me, I like heavy cars.

In most aspects, the new Sequoia is a downgrade from the old model. The old Sequoia had decent 3rd row seats, tons of cargo space, excellent 4WD system with Torsen central differential, more ground clearance and an extremely reliable, durable drivetrain. The ONLY thing that sucked about the old Sequoia was mileage.
While the new powertrain seems good, Toyota made the new Sequoia even less competitive against other full-size SUV, which offer real 8-passenger comfort with sufficient cargo space for all passengers.
What is even less understandable is that Toyota offers the Lexus LX which is based on the same platform without the hybrid powetrain, so that rear seats can fold flat and the cargo space is much more respectable.

I simply can’t believe this
cargo volume with all the seats folded declines from 120 cubic feet in the old Sequoia to just 87 cubic feet in the new one—barely more than the 84 cubic feet offered in the smaller Highlander.
‘I wonder what the first gen Sequoia was

My 2nd gen is insane, you can fit 8ft sheets in the back. Single most useful vehicle I've ever owned, it can do anything you ask it to do very well and I still do not regret buying it new.
