People don't care, they really don't. In this class. The government, however, does. People who have 103k to spend on an SUV, gas station visits are the last things on their mind. Nobody is going to complain about good gas mileage, but I really would like a V8 instead of a hybrid in my Tundra or Sequouia.
Big BOF SUVs are the new luxury cars, remember nobody cared either back in the day that a big Mercedes sedan got 14-15MPG.
GMC should get 20 at least on the highway, though.

Sure.. some might cross shop the tundra. The big 3 sell maybe 2 million 1/2 ton trucks a year…(off the top of my head)….Toyota sells maybe 150,000 max. That tells you right there. I love Toyota, been accused of responding on here that “work for Toyota PR” lol. …But go look. The new Tundra and Sequoia are a class down. Ever so obvious at the auto show. The hybrid part is the attraction to the Sequoia. People want Toyota hybrids.

I was at Toyota a few days ago. I’ve never seen the small details done poorly on a Toyota. My guess is that is because it’s US built. (I’ve got two US built Toys) or maybe they just don’t care
this Tundra handed yet been sold
here some other Tundras.
this is the previous gen

A friend of mine who bought an LX brand new in 2014 recently handed that down to her oldest kid and they bought a new Sequoia. Texted to check in on thoughts of the new Sequoia vs. LX, the weird "platform" thing for storage and here's the exact response: "We absolutely love it. Definitely a different ride, certainly less fancy but given the price difference compared to LX it's understandable. It's really nice. We love the seating and space - much better use than the LX. We don't mind the storage platform - hasn't been an issue at all."

Likely though they are Toyota people who didn't cross shop anything else which is what Toyota figures most Sequoia buyers will be.

DJ is in process of being fixed!
Love this place. Insurance tried to deny me a new door but these people fight the insurance with the best of them.
Poor DJ, his carfax is terrible. Never selling EVER but I would still ask top dollar and not bend much at all. If anything serious (frame, engine etc) were compromised from an accident, that’s different.

Thats because its so much more space than they were used to in the LX. If they cross shopped a Tahoe or something like that or came from that they would be really unhappy with the space.

Speaking of Tahoe, I was just with some family last week and they got a 2023 Tahoe Z71. The rear space (without 3rd row in use) is absolutely gigantic compared to the LX. I have to say I was kind of disappointed in the Z71 itself though. No sunroof and no captain's chairs. I assume the captain's chairs are a choice, but why would a higher end trim like Z71 not come standard with the pano roof?

I'm 99% sure they have a Yukon (or Yukon XL) as well. They have a large family so both the husband and wife drive larger SUV's; the wife is who is driving the Sequoia now. But I get your point and don't disagree in general.
