But, since we're on that subject, as I wrote above, there ARE a few good sports-car passes through the Blue Ridge...the best of which go through Shenandoah National Park and cross over Skyline Drive at the top.

And, BTW, John Denver was right.....that country IS Almost Heaven, although development has spoiled some of that beauty over the years.

I didn’t just make this up. Look up the history of the song lol. John Denver didn’t write the song. The song was written by a man named Bill Danoff, and he was inspired to write the song while he was on a trip driving along Clopper Road in Maryland, which at that time was a country road. The words used in the song were chosen lyrically, and the decision to use the state “West Virginia” was used because of the way the states name fit into the lyrics of the song.

Oh, I wasn't questioning that. In the music industry, all kinds of sources can pop up.


Denver was not his real name, either.....it was Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. Unfortunately, he killed himself in a homemade ultralight cunard aircraft. Don't want to get too far off-topic, though.
