New Toy: Porsche 911 GT2 RS
Last time I had a fun car was the 2002 NSX. It was a cool raw machine but it was becoming dangerous to drive when the car was so low and crazy people didn't look (especially in rain). Been thinking of having another fun car just for weekends (already have Model 3 for work).
Spent the past 6 months on options. Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Maclaren are all great eye candies but I am really not sure about the depreciations in general. I was this close from getting the LFA but timing was off and prices jumped significantly since. The NSX Type S also got my attention (close to getting the 2017 when dealers were giving them away) but this limited version got too much attention. Dealerships got very greedy with 100k markup and it didn't make sense for me anymore.
That left Porsche as the front runner. I am always a fan of NA and MT so the 991.2 GT3 was a great choice. However, as everyone knows, used car prices went up significantly the past months and the GT3 picked up quite a big % too. For the price, I might as well pay a bit more for GT3 RS. Well, that got me into 992 GT3 area but they were asking for 50-75k markup plus the wait time. Started considering the GT2 RS. It's not NA and no MT but it's faster, rarer, and more aggressive.
So after some searches, here's the result. Porsche 911 GT2 RS, Black on Black with Weissach Package.
Quick thoughts so far (not a lot of driving yet)
- Car is stupidly fast, I need to get used to this speed. First time I floored it, the car hit rev limiter before I could begin to react
- The handling is great and I am still far from the limit. However I want to be careful since all the weight is in the back now
- Going straight and I put in 75% throttle and the rear 325 tires broke loose, didn't expect that
- Car is LOUD especially to my "Tesla tuned" ears, but it's so much fun going through gears and remember what exhaust tones are all about again
- PDK is incredible, so fast and precise
- It definitely doesn't sound as good as the GT3 which goes all the way to 9000rpm
- I am glad most people think this is just another Porsche with big wing, less attention

Thanks everyone!
Sigh I looked at the sales tax and said I should have moved to another state...
Yeah Porsche are appreciating so much lately. What do you have in mind for next?
About 3200lb, pretty light for a modern car with 700hp I think.
I do have to say that I didn't realize the 991 to be so big in person up close and personal. It doesn't look that much smaller than my model 3! These things (and most cars) have grown in size
