Tik-Tok/Instagram Celebrity and passengers killed in Texas police chase
Although this event occurred back on Sept. 26, the story was apparently just released yesterday on the GM link. A 19-year-old Tik-Tok celebrity, Gabriel Salazar, with a lot of followers, killed himself and three passengers, in a Camaro SS, in Texas, trying to outrun police. This article does not verify it, but some sources in the accompanying comments below the article say the three passengers were illegal aliens.
They were killed on U.S. 83, in the South Central part of the state. Long ago, when I lived in TX, I've been on that road, going to and from the Picturesque Garner State Park in the Hill Country.

Reports indicate that the Crystal City Police Department in Crystal City, Texas, near San Antonio, initiated a traffic stop early Sunday morning. The police officer initiating the stop then told deputies that he was engaged in an active pursuit with the 2014 Chevy Camaro SS.
A Zavala County Sheriff’s deputy attempted to assist in the chase by deploying a tire deflation device, but the attempt was unsuccessful, per a sheriff’s office post on social media.
Reports indicate that Salazar was behind the wheel of the 2014 Chevy Camaro as it traveled northbound on Highway US 83. The car then drove off the road, over-corrected, and traveled across the roadway into an adjacent ditch. The car hit several trees and rolled before catching fire.
Police say that Salazar and three passengers were pronounced dead at the scene. The three passengers have been identified as 23-year old Jose Molina-Lara, 36-year old Sergio Espinoza-Flores, and 41-year old Jose Luis Jimenez-Mora.
Salazar was known under the handle Gabenotbabe on TikTok and had amassed 2.3 million followers posting skits and lip-syncing videos. Salazar had amassed 815,000 followers on Instagram under the handle gabenotbabee. His final Instagram post features him posing in front of the white 2014 Chevy Camaro SS, as well as sitting in the driver’s seat.
Salazar’s family and friends have launched a memorial fund on GoFundMe.
“Gabriel loved his family and was always horsing around with [his] sister and little brother,” the GoFundMe page says. “He was always there with a big hug and smile, and his family will never forget those warm moments. He was so funny with a quiet sense of humor and sarcasm. I cannot believe that I am sitting here writing this. How is this real life?”
“Words cannot express the heartbreak our entire community is feeling from the loss of our Gabriel,” the page continues. “Your family and friends miss you.”

Too young and too dumb. If he had any brains he would have just pulled over and lived with the consequences. The repercussions of running from the police are just not worth it and not only could you be killed but you could kill other innocent people. If he is a tik-tok celebrity doesn’t he have money? Why would they need a go fund me page?

The driver was likely a victim of his own success. He had enough tic-tok money to buy a high performance car, but didn't have enough maturity to operate it safely, and didn't have enough respect for the law to just pull over. Consequences people!

In my home town, the police, for a while, actually had a couple of Camaro SS models they used as official police cars....so most suspects couldn't outrun them. I don't know if the town still has any of them, as the police HQ is being torn down and relocated.

It would be hard enough to outrun the cops if one was driving solo. But, add three passengers, and it would be impossible! Not to mention the fact that it is bad enough someone risk their own life, but the three passengers likely had no choice in the matter. And too, anyone initiating a police chase is risking the lives of every other motorist, bicyclist, and pedestrian in the vicinity. How can these people be so caviler? Definitely wasn't raised right.

Money and notoriety (in this case, from Tik-Tok and Instagram) sometimes go to one's head, particularly when young and immature. And, it also begs the question of why someone would try to make money from smuggling when he's already getting it from all those social-media hits.
