Speaking of "10 years ahead" I could poke the German EV's all day but that fruit is too low-hanging.

Mercedes, Audi and BMW are 10 years ahead of where Hyundai is with their Genesis brand and more specifically with the G90. Genesis still has no dealers. The power train options for Genesis are very far behind the Germans. The interior tech of a Mercedes is leagues ahead. No hybrids either with Genesis Nothing sporty either.

That applies to the entire Genesis brand, not just the G90. The cars keep getting better but the independently-owned dealerships continue to actively fight against setting up their own showrooms much like Ford dealers selling Lincolns. More importantly, Genesis's dealer network itself almost doesn't exist and is a total mess.

Do you think I bought those cars without extensively test driving the competition at the time? I have driven them all back to back many times, in all generations.
Again, do you think I bought the 4 GS without extensively test driving the competition? No. I have driven them all back to back extensively.
Again, lets listen to the people who have actually had the cars we're discussing about how they perform, shall we?
And I give a crap about that why? Again...I have owned these cars myself and have driven them daily as my own personal vehicles. I know way more about the way they drive than any reviewer who drives one for a day or a week.
Your experience is way out of date. Modern German cars are excellent riding cars, even their really sporty trims. Audis especially have beautiful rides, even an S or RS version. Its not like it was in the 90s or earlier.
Why would I have personal bias towards the Germans when I have only owned one German car and have had 7 Lexus cars? The Germans just do this better, thats the bottom line. It doesn't mean nobody else does it well. I have no bias toward or against anything, I just understand where different carmakers excel and where they don't.
The reviews coming back of the new G90 note the ride is considerably firmer than the S Class, which is not promising. What they have done is chasing handling sure footedness they have had to firm up the suspension too much, this is what Lexus did with the LS500. My guess is the G90 will ride and drive a lot like the LS500.
"How do I know"? I know from a lifetime of owning and being and enthusiast of this specific segment of cars.
Says the guy who writes pages arguing with someone about cars that person has owned and he has never driven.
Did you also own the A6, E-Class, and 5 Series of that generation to come to this conclusion?
Again, lets listen to the people who have actually had the cars we're discussing about how they perform, shall we?
There are dozens of reviews by motoring journalist outlets and YouTubers who drive these cars as a job that would disagree with you.
Hard disagree there, from *my* experience the German cars always ere on the stiffer side of ride. This sentiment is echoed by most others as well. There's a tradeoff for everything.
Considering the steel spring G90 rides better than the air suspension LS, I doubt an air suspension G90 will ride like the LS500 lol. You can't simply substitute the LS500 with the G90. So again, I don't see the basis for your belief other than personal bias towards the Germans.

This is quite the over-generalization...

I know you are a huge Hyundai fan, but this is ridiculous. Genesis is not a peer of Mercedes by any measure, or BMW or Audi. They are beating the pants off of Lexus, but thats Lexus' failing.

‘We have “boutiques” in a few places in Toronto, they don’t really move the needle. Proper showrooms with dealers is needed which is party why I said the Germans are 10 years ahead. The German power trains are also superior and are far ahead as well. Genesis and the value proposition is what the brand really has going for them, that and the long warranties. Mercedes now pushing farther ahead with their performance hybrid pairings. Genesis is nowhere close.

ok all points on sides have been made about genesis/g90 vs. "german" cars, we can stop now until we have something to base it on.

If the G90 can be 90% as good and be considerably cheaper, I would absolutely consider one. I’m just afraid it’s going to be too firmly sprung.

Makes you wonder what is the point of pouring resources in the G90?

i do see now the s-class 'base' is now the S500 (not s450) and has mild hybrid for 429hp. suddenly the 380hp and 8 speed in the g90 is looking a bit wanting.

Genesis would instantly gain street credibility if they made a V12…even it is we’re not on par with the Germans. Just to say they did it. Even Toyota once had a V12

Simple, because they sell tons of them in the South Korean market. LS500's global sales aren't half of what the G90 sells in South Korea, so they can afford to keep investing in it.
That's why they need to bring over the mild hybrid supercharged V6 from the LWB version. Still, the base V6 is good enough to keep up with the 740i and A8's 6 cylinder offerings. The G80 Sport outran both the 540i and A6 with that engine.
