Lexus's sale for December is pathetic. None of my dealers have any cars and what they have are all marked up $5000 above sticker for tint, alarms, and films. No better at Toyota. I am not even sure why they would want to spend any more advertising when there are no cars to sell.
I just picked up my daughter’s Toyota CHR last week. I was able to get it $1295 over sticker ( which included paint protection, roof crossbars etc).
Another dealer wanted $4k over MSRP.
Absolutely no dealer inventory. I was lucky enough to put a deposit down on one that was in transit to the US.
Obviously not a good time to buy a car….
So if one's car did get totaled and you had to acquire new, do insurance companies take into consideration how high prices have gone for the sticker and compensate for that?

As I understand it, they pay around KBB (Kelley Blue-Book Value), although, of course, KBB values vary with vehicle condition and mileage.

Congratulations on the new C-HR...and best of luck to you and your daughter with it. Personally, I'm not a fan of the styling or interior, but it should be reliable and give years of good service.
No. I did not want the roof rack. It was part of the $1295 up charge over MSRP.
I have to admit I did not like it when I first saw it. We will see if we keep them on.
Since you say that your daughter just got her license a few weeks ago (and congratulations on that, too) , I don't know about your state (NJ), but, in many states now (and it wasn't like this when I got my license a half-century ago), newly-licenced drivers have a series of probationary-steps. For temporary periods, the number of friends that can be in the vehicle, hours of operation, BAC-limits (if old enough to drink), and other factors are strictly governed....plus, some new vehicles have parental-controls set into the car's drive-computers. As you reach the end of one step successfully, with no violations or changeable-accidents, you go on to the less-restrictive next step, until, finally, you get an unrestricted license like most of us.
In NJ, the probationary license is for 12 months duration. During those 12 months, one cannot drive after 11 pm or before 5 am. Also, no more than one passenger is allowed.

Happened to yours truly recently (was not at fault), hence the 2017 CT now listed below and yes my insurance company took it into account and I got $3K more than I paid for it back in early 2020. It was not much more to get my 2017.
