Lexus will be all-EV brand by 2030, introduces entire future lineup
This is part of an absolutely enormous press event where Toyota introduced its planned BEV's until 2030. Of note, Lexus will be selling only BEV's in North America, Europe, and China by 2030 (timestamp @32:00).
We finally see the RZ, but also stand-ins for a three-row EV, an EV version of the IS, and an "LFA-inspired" supercar EV that supposedly runs on solid state batteries, though that one appears to be the furthest away from production.
I'm pretty confident that whatever hopes and dreams people had for that TTV8 can finally be put in the coffin.
Here's a particularly interesting image from the press release which teases not only future Lexus ICE vehicles in the background, but also the EV's front and center.
Notice the lack of an LS equivalent.... I suppose this is the closest thing to an official confirmation of its demise after the LS500.
Lexus seems to have a lot of plans for this EV in particular. Sedan, wagon, and convertible. In the CGI photos it looks like a Taycan competitor but IRL it looks more like a Model 3, which would make sense if it is a replacement for the IS.
Several interesting models. Aside from all the crossovers there are a couple of sedans, Lexus sportscar models and even a couple of sporty low to the ground Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo looking designs. Another one looks a bit Supra-ish and yet another looks vaguely MR2-ish. Yet another looks like an evolution of the FT4X Concept.
They'd better do the MR2 right... Non-pig EVs have been done in the past and there's nothing fundamentally limiting them from being a "driver's car". Still... are they going to put all the batteries over the rear axle?
The compact cruiser gives me electric Samurai/Jimny vibes. Very much looking forward to it.
Great to see the hideous Predator grill is gone.
Most of those concepts have very cool styling and don’t seem unrealistic for production.
Zero chance of Lexus building half of these models.
It takes them over a decade to introduce a new engine, now they will bring 4-5 new models in next 8 yrs lol
