I disagree that they were late. I think they are earlier than many of the other players. At least they didn't go into desperation mode and have a vaporware showcase promising what they were going to do. The Ioniq 5 looks like a great start to their dedicated EV platform.

Yeah, I have to agree with that. They were basically the best option out side of Tesla last year when I was looking for a commuter EV for my wife

Relative to the Volt, Leaf, and i3 they were late. But those early EV's provided next to no advantage whatsoever to Nissan, GM, or BMW in their current lineup of EV's. They're about as relevant as the RAV4 Electric to Toyota. All of them were treated by their respective manufacturers as nothing more than compliance vehicles.

The speed at which Hyundai/Kia/Genesis develops their products is ludicrous, I don't think any OEM comes close to their pace. Back in 2018 the Stinger was lauded as the greatest thing the Koreans ever built, and now 4 years later, every aspect of it is a dinosaur compared to their current product lineup, not just the EV's.

Well, Doug Demuro reviews alot of vehicles, and liked the Stinger enough to actually take one home and keep it......at least for a while.

The only problem with the Stinger is that, in general, people just don't want sedans anymore.

Hyundai can’t even get the repairs for their recalled engines right. I doubt their battery stuff will be any different.

Ironic that this is the company being investigated by the NHTSA for battery fires.

Here's the Throttle House review of the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The next gen Ioniq or Kia is on my list to replace my wife's 2020 Ioniq when her lease is up in 2023

When 2023 comes, you're going to have a lot of other EV's to look at, not just from Hyundai but other manufacturers.

Nah, Chinese companies won't be able to enter the U.S. market by then. But we'll be seeing an onslaught of EV's from the current legacy manufacturers.
