I have no doubt it was done to minimize glare.

If that is why they did it, then it’s a not a good design to overcome this problem.

Cadillac, BMW or KIA don’t have this problem.

Cadillac does too in some applications, it’s a GM thing.

My observation is that most manufacturers aren’t dealing with it at all. No more hoods over screens, glossy screens and textures, surfaces/screens angled up, etc. drives me nuts.

I haven’t been in the new Lyriq but they both use the very bright OLED screens. If you drive the XT6 the screens are angled down like that.

But when you drive them you don’t have issues with glare. At least I don’t.

if it's angled downward from the top of the dash, someone would have to be so short for that feature to make sense that they can't see over the dash....

I have a BMW with the new curved display. No hood. No glare on the windshield at all. GM doesn't have to do that. Look at the pix of the 2024 Cadillac XT4.

Well that's got a hood over it, so the explanation can't be that it's to protect against windshield glare.

Curving it is actually a decent mitigation. And I’m not talking about glare on the windshield, but rather glare/reflections on the screens themselves.

This picture shows what I’m talking about. Look at the reflections on the dash and in particular on the lower center screen.

We might be getting a little off topic here.

But when you drive that car, reflections and glare are not an issue...
