Why not a brand new V8?
Don’t get me wrong…it is great Toyota put the 5.0 V8 in the IS…but the criticism is warranted 100%. I can’t remember the last time I saw an engine get deleted from a model to only bring back the same engine years or maybe a decade later. (Sounds like a very 1980s General Motors type thing to do). The IS500 will likely be a great collectors items. But does the IS really compete on the same level as it’s peers?
would be fun to see a Miami upset TBH

That's easy for you to say bro! Most people don't have the tools or expertise. There's member in the 2nd Gen IS forum who swapped out his diff on his 2014 for an LSD, and it's not been a smooth journey, although he is pretty seasoned. One of the reasons I decided to leave it alone with my IS350

plug and play. Lots of IS models out there with aftermarket as well I think the mechanicals date back to 2006 for the current gen IS. People are just brainwashing to not “modify” a Toyota/Lexus.

You still have to pull your diff out and swap the internals. If you buy a fully built diff, than yes it's a direct swap but those are lot of money unless you get lucky and find one intact. The diff itself is about $1800:

You still have to use your carrier. I actually had a full plan to do this for my IS, but the costs and complexity were not worth it, as I don't track

I couldn't find an ISF or RCF anywhere close, I looked for months. My son went out of town this weekend and I drove/worked on the IS250. Damn I like this little car. It drives like a dream. I put black Enkei Raijin wheels on it for Xmas and just put 265s on the back. My kid is a lucky little turd.
