Perhaps (?)
I'm not a math-expert or a physicist, but, as I understood physics in an automotive sense, it is concerned more with impact-force and kinetic-energy than with uneven points-of-impact, which would probably have more to so with the effects of leverage then kinetic energy.
Might be an interesting question for someone in the thread with an advanced math or physics degree to address. I know JDR76, for instance, is an engineer.

As to what people chose to drive that's up to them, but as someone who started with full size trucks I don't have much desire to drive them anymore unless I'm doing some thing that requires them. I rather drive a smaller car like an LS day to day but I'm very aware of the disadvantage I'm at in a crash.

To be fair, roads in many areas of LA are not very large.
I don’t remember seeing many BOF SUVs at all in our area, West LA that weren’t livery in the 2 years there. It was all Maserati convertibles and the like. Rolls, Bentleys, Ferarris. I’m sure outside the city more in the suburbs BOF trucks and SUVs are everywhere though.
When I got back to Tennessee it was like a night and day difference, dizzy from all the expensive BOFs. The roads and parking spaces are also huge here, huge.
