Unhappy My buddies RB26DET 240SX died.

I know most of you probably arn't into 240's.. but this is my really good friends car that he transformed from a bone stock 96 240 to one of the ONLY RB26 swapped 240's in the world. Him and his other buddy that has a RHD 240 spent COUNTLESS hours and sleepless nights to finish there cars.

There goals were to get to HIN Chicago and represent our home town (Green Bay, WI) Since there has never been a car from here to go there.

Well the story is on the site if you want to read the whole thing.

Basically he won Best Nissan/Infinity over a Skyline and some other REALLY nice Nissan's. After the show his trailer had a mishap and the car flew off the trailer. The main thing is that no one got hurt! But I know his heart... and alot of people from our city's hearts a little hurt still..

The car is a RB26DET with a T-66 and a bunch of other stuff..

check it out at

pics from the crash.

Being a former 240 owner and still an enthusiast, i know the nature of work that had to have gone into that car. That truly sucks. Something similar to this (not as extreme) happened to an atlanta area lexus owner a few weeks ago. He was trailering his car (1jz-gte (haltec) sc300, vertex, coilovers, 5zigen 20's) when a spare tire fell out from under an SUV. The wheel bounced over the top of the truck and landed on the front bumber of the sc, destroying hundreds of dollars of vertex goodness, the hood, and then the windshield....on the way to show i might add. Atleast they are just material posessions

Is he going to rebuild it?

Thats what I would do. Get another and start fresh. He did one allready so the second shouldn't be as bad. Still sad to look at though.....

Actually, if I had the money, I would love to have a built 240sx. For some reason, I just like the looks of them. It's probably the long sleek look similar to the sc.

Sucks what happened to your bud.

RB26 isnt that much harder then sr20.
just alittle pounding on the firewall. poping in the rb25 tranny, and a few extra 15 wires to run heh.
oh yea, skyline crossmenbrain..

Might not be that much harder to install, but its takes a bigger bit out of the pocket book LOL...

Ouch !!! Sorry to hear about the loss.
I used to have 89' 240 SX w/ SR20DET on it. Bought brand new and I have put 220,000 miles on it. Nissans are very well build, just like any other Japanese car.
I traded the 240 to get my LS400.

I know how it feels like. You put so much hours on your car and treated as your baby.
Keep us posted with the news ...

i heard about this loss on son240sx.ca.. our canadian 240sx board.. we are all really sorry to hear that and we all really admired the car.... im sure you will build one better and faster

after personally swapping 4 SR20's i know how much work (and it always seems to be late at night), goes into making these cars amazing. I am really sorry to hear that this happened but at least you know that everyone is supporting you, people all across USA and North America are giving their condolences to that car... my friends MSN name who lives in montreal was "RIP LilGTR"

tell him all of us north of the boarder give our deepest sympathy
