This Sad Lexus SC 400 Needs to Be Saved

This junkyard gem is worth saving from the scrapyard.

Sad to see, the SC was one that when it came out, and the first one I ever saw was a red one, that I want that car and that brand.

Nice car, but that's a lot of rear body damage to make restoration viable for a 30 year old car.

There's one on Autotrader that has 105K miles for $6,500. And it runs, hasn't been sitting in a junkyard for who knows how long and still has wheels.

As a long time SC300 owner, that car can’t be saved. It’s too late. The rear body damage would be far too costly to fix and there’s nothing special about this particular 1992 SC400. It’s sad to see such an iconic car in such bad shape, but it is 30 years old after all.

I’ve watched a lot of friends buy trashed out SC’s really cheap and try to clean them up or turn them into race cars, and it always turns out bad. These cars are very expensive to fix up and I would never recommend a pile of junk like this to anyone, other than to strip it for parts for another SC. The best thing I can recommend to people looking to buy an SC/Soarer is to buy the nicest, cleanest one you can afford.

Only a deep walleted buyer would have interest in an on old cars with minimal residual value. If one has the necessary equipment to skills to rebuild then this sort of project is probably a challenge.
This You Tuber's rebuilds come to mind: (I find his humor to be quite amusing. "The adjustable hammer")
