Do you really think that's true? I guess it is now that I think about it....the V8s were indestructible in my gen Yukon and with the next gen they came out with the cylinder shutoff crap "AFM" and had lots of issues. Lifter issues I believe.

Hopefully that was easily available to jailbreak. I would not be having that crap.

when I had 7 cars to look after at one point, before all the working at home, one starts to care about oil change intervals so they arent doing oil changes twice a month on the family fleet doing 3k/5k changes. Much easier when you only have 1-2 cars.

Exactly!

We only had 2 cars but each did 30k + a year, at 3K ODIs I was looking at more than 20 oil changes a year. Moving ODIs to 5-6K on my Infiniti and 9-10K on the Sequoia meant about 8 changes. Also, a lot less used oil to recycle… a slightly greener practice overall.

Oil is cheap, but it’s not always about money. Time saved is important but I think for many, the most important factor is peace of mind. We all change our oils at intervals we’re most comfortable with.

I always try and buy I cars I can do on the ground, only one I have to lift is the A8. All the others are just turn wheels all the way to the left and drain/replace filter. The 430 actually even allows me to do the trans fluid and coolant on the ground as well. 460 is only oil/coolant.

Makes an oil change a 10 min max process for any of them

I like the 5,000 mile intervals. Really not interested in following Toyotas 10,000 interval for my new 4Runner.

This thread is very interesting and pertains to me.

I now work from home and put about 5k miles per year on my vehicle. I am not at the number of miles to change the oil, but am at greater than 6 months. I only have maybe 3k on it, since my last oil change.

Just change it once per year

Yes, that sounds reasonable. It’s weird how the car now sits so much.

I have the itch to get something new, but can’t justify it right now. Especially with new car prices selling at msrp +.

Great video as usual, and more of a reason to change oil often.

Yup, my Audis oil looks like a diesel after 5000 miles. I am going to keep reducing interval till it comes out normal, weirdly the LS doesn't seem to do this as much even with the higher miles and age

again oil color is not a reliable indicator of its remaining life. You want it to be dirty because that shows the detergent is cleaning your engine

Funny how it correlates 1:1 with soot content and tests as worn out relative to a new sample.
