What you miss about that whole area is how close NY, NJ, and PA really are to each other. His life is in NYC, moving to NJ would give him a more suburban life while still being easily accessible to NYC. My wife's family has been considering moving from NJ to PA. In reality, this is only 35 minutes away from where they live now.
Its kind of like living here in the DC area. People live in DC, MD & VA but they all live in the same major area. So even though he hates NJ, there are many reasons to move there from NYC.

I hate suburban lifestyle in general, but it does come with many positives.

Ugh, yeah. Lets put it this way, NY isn't much better, and it would be a wise business move for me. If I sell my house and my commercial building here in Brooklyn, I can get a much bigger house and a much bigger commercial building in NJ. I'll miss the city life, but the pandemic kind of took it away regardless.

I see, makes sense. My wife's nephew got married and moved to NJ from Northern Cal and bought a giant 5 bedroom with a backyard as big as a park, the joke was that when he mowed the front and finished with the backyard the front yard needs mowing again. He paid less money than I paid for my 2 bedroom I had at the time, and I just made a comment that why do we live in expensive California when we could buy a house much cheaper out here. He gave me a quick stare and said "because you don't have to dig your way out of the snow like we do".

That's right, he did mention property taxes. My property tax on my house I bought in 2015 is $10K a year, his house he paid almost $20K on his $500K house. Also he told me a lot of the townships have corrupt leadership

Uh, the majority of people have seen the Sopranos or at least have some passing knowledge of it, have seen the opening. Its one of the most popular and highly regarded TV shows in history. You didn't get it, but that doesn't make it a bad ad. Everybody I was with loved it, all of which have seen the Sopranos. The Sopranos is Americana at this point. It was a great ad, just didnt reach you and thats okay.
And yes, that was Meadow, Tony's Daughter driving, and that was Tony's son, AJ.

Both nice areas with good schools and close proximity to Brooklyn.
Clark, NJ is next town over and is a bit cheaper.
The ridiculous tolls everywhere and having to drive through SI to get to NYC is a big pain.
You will save a ton on taxes though compared to NYC.
