1. Tony Soprano would NEVER drive an EV (this isn't an EV debate, it is what it is). Regina King should have waited and done the commercials for the EV and this should have been an Escalade commercial because that's what Tony drove. Maybe a good way to showcase SuperCruise.

Also, wasn't there EZ-Pass back in the late 90s? Love how when the part Tony lights up his cigar, Meadow has a lollypop.

I thought the commercial didn’t pay Tony and Sopranos the respect they deserve.
It was so so but it was great to hear the song and see Meadow.

Tony would definitely never drive EV but it fits Meadow’s character.
The show was incredible but probably would not be allowed to air in today’s “PC culture.” Almost everyone can find something to be offended by in almost every episode.

I watched maybe 3-4 episodes of the first season, but I watched many better segments on youtube. Mildly entertaining, but disconnected from reality, much like most mobster movies.

Going to disagree with this one. All but one of my employees and the vast majority of the people I work with live in this area, most have been there all their lives. They ***** about taxes like anyone else, but they're nothing like you describe. Most think my $10k/yr bill in IL is insanely high. That aside, $500k houses in that area are not the norm by any means, most are quite a bit less. There are a couple of $2M mansions for sale there right now though that have ~$30k/yr property taxes. Double that for 1/4 the value? Hardly.

I’m not lying. My BIL, they could only afford a $95,000 house with them both working and making pretty decent money because of property taxes. Up there it’s normal to pay more in property taxes in your house payment than to the actual mortgage, at least for the middle class. It’s unfathomable to me but it’s true.

Have you seen some of the current shows on pay platforms like HBO? The Sopranos is tame.

There hasn't been a single good show since Married with children.

Stop telling me I’m making stuff up, just leave that out of your posts please in the future if you don’t believe me. Why would I lie? I don’t question the integrity of your posts.

Do you want my inlaws’ phone number?

It’s between 6-7 grand for my MIL and FIL for a very modestly priced house. Webster NY look it up.

I'm not the only one who commented the same thing. Yeah...6-7 grand. You said 60 grand. Real estate takes are not over 10%.

Here is a listing for sale in Webster, NY. List price $399,900, annual taxes are $10,092.00 a year.

I'm not saying you're making stuff up, but you misunderstood or misspoke.

I know people in upstate NY who are paying 50-60k in property taxes, but these are extremely wealthy areas with $multimillion mansions, not some plebian 500k houses, lol

My mistake. I put the comma in the wrong place.

10k a year for a 400k house is ridiculous too. That sounds about right, maybe a little low. Almost a grand in property taxes a month? Pass.

Just very different areas of the country. The pay can be very different too.

I know this response was not to me, but I have looked several up. You can look up any property tax in Monroe County (including Webster) using the assessor's website: https://www.monroecounty.gov/etc/rp/search.php

I just looked up the home of one of my coworkers, which is a fairly large 4bd/3ba on a half acre at the north end of town, just south of Webster park. Current value is about $330k, County/Town taxes are $3,775, school taxes $5,325, for a total of $9,100. Not $40,000.

I'm not discounting whatever your MIL/FIL's situation is. I can't tell you what the cause of that is. But I know literally hundreds of people in Webster and surrounding towns (Rochester, Fairport, Victor, Penfield, Irondequoit, Pittsford, Brighton, Greece, etc). I know exactly what several of them make, and roughly what most do, and I can promise you they're not paying $10-12k per year per $100k of home value. That is absolutely not the norm.

Wealthier areas of the country pay more taxes, that's the way it is. Local/State governments are going to collect more taxes from areas that can afford it. Sucks, but if you can afford higher taxes it means you are in a good position
