I've read that toothpaste works well, but I've never tried it.

If it’s hazy from sun damage, I’ve done wet sanding followed by buffing with with compounds and polishes. You could buy a headlight cleaning kit at Walmart or any automotive store. They work pretty well and should do the job.

You can purchase a kit that has the wet sanding pads and lubricant that you need. That said, this cleaning will help, but won't make them new.

The easiest and cheapest way is with a little acetone. I don't know why people spend a ton of money on all these products.

I do what this guy does once a year on my IS and it works extremely well on both of our aging cars.

do not wet sand. do not use toothpaste.
You will make it worse.

use the least abrasive polish, and move up from there.

I find that Meguiars ultimate polish and elbow grease (or dual action polisher) is enough to remove the yellowing.
the yellow comes right off on the microfiber towel.

do not use sandpaper if you can help it.
