There must be space up there for a V12.

It was interesting seeing this car in person at the Kentucky Derby last weekend. My opinions haven't changed. The gold one was more better looking than the black one but this isn't a vehicle that will be in my garage in the future that is for sure.

Sure there's space but it's not getting one.

BMW's trend towards more and more busy styling has me dumbfounded.

Agreed. It's hideous. Like KITT (Knight Rider) gone even worse.

I'm trying to think of how this went from a drawing or render to production and how no one said wait, this is awful let's stop and come up with something else.

At the very least these serve a purpose. Would I buy a vehicle with this? Absolutely not. Buttons are much more practical. However, I'm sure you can control certain things like heated/cooled seats, AC, lights, etc.

The worst offenders of screens in random places are gas stations. I avoid stations that have them because I find it truly obnoxious that some woman is screaming at me while I'm getting gas.

I thought the “multi-function” capacitive touch screens on the rear doors were meant to replace the traditional mechanical controls on the rear central console between the rear seats?
The touch capacitive controls on the rear door handles a bit small and cramped, but not too bad an idea.

The door mounted screens are there to take place of the usual center armrest screen, because BMW placed a wireless charger there instead. An answer to a question that nobody asked. Then again that's the motto for this entire car.

Compare to the S-Class and A8 center armrest screens:
