Power and authority at 100+ mph for 400+ miles is a major reason for V8.......

The EV version is also stupid heavy and still slower all around on top of the annoyances that come with EV ownership.

Yep. I actually got chased down recently by a Bentley in my A8, even though on paper I'm faster and certainly 0-60 and 1/4 miles I lost after 120 to his W12

I agree with this also. But I'd never notice if you just didn't point it out, the front is just that hideous.

Sure, but a smooth V8 especially in a luxury car is just as smooth---all you do is hear it. And this I7 is fast but not crazy fast like a Tesla. For the EV crowd I get the appeal but I'd choose the V8. I like that the EV mostly resembles the regular one, however.

The smoothest V8 is nowhere near as smooth as an electric motor.

LOL, 95% of this forum is not Autobahn cruising at 100mph in a Luxo Barge, unless they are on vacation or breaking the law. 300 miles is more than enough for 80% of the use case IMO, since the majority of owners will charge at home or have their chauffeurs top them up. For the remaining 20% over long distances, you get 3 years of free EA fast charging (the network is slowly getting better with new installs). If you've driven an EV for a long period, road-tripping is incredibly easy with a tiny amount of planning. I've done it all over the States/Canada in both Tesla/non-teslas stress free. The i7 will also be very efficient if the IX is anything to go by as Kyle Conner/Inside EVs got 345 miles in their highway range test on the biggest wheels.

Speak for yourself. Just drove back from my shop and was over 100 6 times and for a good 5 min stretch

300 miles of range is more than enough for my everyday use. But several times a year I drive my car to Southern WV, its about 360 miles each way and I don't want to have to plan or stop to charge. I also don't want to have to worry about charging it while I'm down there. I know it can be done, I just don't want to do it. For me to buy into an EV, I would really want 400 miles of range.

Electric motors have zero NVH. Zero. You don't realize how much smoother they are than an ICE until you experience it for yourself. Like you said, I have one of the most refined V8s one can buy and absolutely an EV is smoother. You hit the gas and it just accelerates with ZERO NVH.

Even if you are not chasing people down. Just the size and effortless feel of a V8 is superior for long distance cruising. The bigger the displacement the better. My 4.0 V6 has 50 horses on my 4.7 V8…yet the V8 just pulls and cruises so much better for the long haul. I don’t chase people down btw.

300 miles of EPA is not 300 miles of your highway driving most likely. It is going to end up being 200 or 250, because people dont drive at 70mph steady and with no rain, sun, snow or elevation changes.

So what you really want is 500 miles of range, so you can do your once a year 360 mile trip, and you probably want charging to be done in 15m max, and for it to cost around $100k.

Right now it does not make sense, does not exist.

My M3P can do 200 miles of my driving. on my highway, my trip, and i never start at 100% and i need to get there at 20% so i dont have to charge right away, which means for me, perfect would be actually 300 miles of range in realistic highway conditions for me (90 mph, elevation changes, 100 F during summer, rain and freezing during winter), then i end up like you with 500 miles of needed EPA which is then $150k and Lucid.

Or I can relax and not sweat it, because I have to stop anyway to grab i byte (or i will have to after the trip), and i save a lot of nerves by not having to go to gas station other 350 days a year, which i always hated doing.

In the end, reality is you win some, you lose some, it will never be perfect but it is getting there for sure and for many many many people it would be good choice today.

And yes, as you mentioned, it is by far the most luxurious powertrain you can have.

great for an around town limo and trips to/from the airport, but range is too limited for long trips.

super blingy car. designed to impress.
