I think they have done market research and they find that most EV buyers don’t really use or care about a frunk
They dedicated what should have been the frunk space in the EQ vehicles to a massive HEPA filter. Something that probably only really matters to the Chinese market that these cars are aimed at, since places like Shanghai and Guangzhou are very polluted.

But buyers who come from ICE cars who are probably the largest buyers of an i7 or EQS vs conquests from Tesla aren't used to a frunk, so to us its not a big deal.

definitely not a big deal to not have a frunk, just seems insane to have that giant hood space, no ice engine, and STILL no room for a frunk.

Yes but EVs have relatively normal trunk sizes? Or am I wrong?

They do, moreso if they are on EV platforms.

Multiple manufacturers have done market research on this and discovered the contrary. Most EV users don't use their frunks which is why designers are largely not prioritizing it on cars. Mercedes, BMW, and Cadillac are examples of automakers that have said as much. Right now this is a boon to many carmakers because they can place many non-EV optimized parts in this area that are shared with their ICE vehicles.

I just saw one on the street. The front end is very imposing. Didn’t really look better than pics imo.

So I spent a lot of time with one today, about 45 minutes. I didn't drive it but I had the key and was able to play with all the tech. It does look better in person, it looks less tall, but they had a 2022 on the floor also and undeniably the previous car is better looking, inside and out IMO. The interior is very high quality, seats are extremely comfortable. I really want to see one without the M Sport package, I think it would look much better. That would have to be an i7.

Worst angle on the car in person oddly enough is the rear...

I know I don't represent all EV owners, but having a frunk is one of the features I find incredibly useful and one I would miss if I didn't have one.

I use mine for grocery shopping all the time. It's just the right size so that nothing is flying around in the comparatively much bigger trunk. I have to drive so slowly whenever I have groceries in the trunk as opposed to the frunk.

If I pick up take out food, it's perfect for that too , the bags stay upright and no food smell comes into the car.

I'd use mine even more if it was powered. On an expensive car like an S, it should be powered.

If it gives the car a normal profile, then I am all down for trading the frunk for that. Tesla has done a good job making the Model S beautiful, but none of their other models are...

As for things rolling around in the trunk, I love the trunk box that Mercedes uses:

I do, you push the little silver button and it pops back up in the frame and slides back under the parcel shelf like a drawer. Really cool feature.

Here's a video of its operation:

It is very useful, at least you get one stock. I had to import one for my Audis along with many other little things like that. For whatever reason they don't bother offering them stateside

LOL that’s pretty cool, I have never seen that. And you think you could live with a Model S after having something so luxurious? Moving to a Tesla from an S class is a big step down in terms of luxury.

I dunno, my wife was with me and that was the first thing she said. I think I would approach it as just a totally different kind of car.

I would rent one for a week or so to make sure I liked it
