MotorWeek's Pat Goss Passes

Y’all are crazy. It’s the Youtubers that don’t have the big budgets. MW does.
MW isn’t going anywhere, even after John retires.
I find them still plenty relevant and feel they’ve kept up with the times. I still love the show personally.

a motorweek review is typically what, 5 minutes? the one you posted is 6 minutes. this 18 minute review of one of the most important new cars in decades, the lucid air, is amazing in production quality, details, information, etc. blows away ANYTHING motorweek has ever produced.
the show is incredibly rushed because they fit so many segments in 30 minutes, and the reviews are incredibly minimal, but john davis certainly a pro and experienced at what he does. the token female presenters obviously know nothing about cars but they add eye candy.

You are kidding right?
When I see Alex, Doug or Soyfan come up with anything remotely close to this video, then you are might be right. Those You Tubers are really lame TBH, none of them would be on a TV program..
Here are some of the sponsors for Motor Week. The #1 auto show
IMO, You Tubers like Demero or Dykes are like those authors that "self" publish their books (that nobody in their right mind would pay to them for the rights), and then they "say" they were published. Motorweek is the real deal.

Show me the the money. We were talking production value. Motorweek is on the same You Tube as Demero is. MW has legit sponsors. Is on PBS. And is syndicated (I think). No question the production value of MW is superior. Doug has no staff and crappy clothes

Yeah MW is on YouTube too, have you looked at their subscribers and views? Lets look:

There are MANY YT creators that blow MW away in production value. Some of it is really incredible. MT's production value isn't impressive at all, its basically the same as it has been since the 90s. And these YT guys have legit sponsors too.

Folks, I'm not a moderator, but, IMO, let's not forget the intended purposes of this thread...to remember and discuss the life of Pat Goss, his (many) contributions to the state of the auto-repair/maintenance business, and how he and John did their segments on the show.........not about how much or how little money MW draws in on videos compared to other YouTube shows/reviews. Human lives can't be measured in money or profits.

I will say, I don’t recall the Goss segment much from MW. Just the standard reviews from John Davis.

You move the goalposts. Comparing the two doesn't make any sense as they are completely different, but to dismiss these YT content creators is absurd because they produce really excellent content that gets a lot more views than Motor Week, and the production value of much of it (not Doug) is even higher caliber still. Some of the production values on these YT channels is getting to where it rivals Top Gear!
I don't see how you can be a MW viewer and not remember Pat Goss...

I only really watched the review part with John D. . Didn’t really watch the whole show. It’s be a very long time since I watched the whole show

Another thing about production quality, MW isn’t even in 4K

pat goss was obviously very dedicated not only to repairing cars with his private business but also on motorweek, helping millions of people understand how things work, how they go wrong, and how they can be fixed or prevented.
obviously i don't know anything about his personal life, but he seemed like a guy i'd like to have a beer or coffee with and chat.
RIP Pat Goss.

This is hilarious to me. MW has tracks they use to test performance cars on, a drag strip, braking, handling, etc.
As opposed to DDM cooing and giggling over something stupid and not really being objective. I’d rather see a car launch from a MW drag strip and their times rather than a camera pointed at Doug gunning it in traffic.

You do realize just Doug DeMuro probably makes 4 times with his video the total revenue MW brings in right? Motor Week is on public TV, if it weren't it would have been done long ago. I like MotorWeek, I lived for Saturday mornings watching it as a kid, but its time has come and gone.
