Actually it’s the one thing I dislike about the LC design.
Any type of gimmick styling will never age well.

How is it a gimmick? The car was designed around the grill, its pretty cohesive. The lines start and end really well. In my opinion, its really well executed overall.

what's the point of a long overhang if there is no big engine to fill it? perhaps to maximize interior space?

If anything it limits interior space...

LC does not have the greatest grill IMO. Outgoing NX was awful. New IS looks good. Outgoing IS was bad. Some Lexus models look terrible at the dealer, but the same model looks much better in traffic. Lexus RX is one of those. The new NX is not bad. The new LX has the best front end so far….now if they could just fix the weak rear end.

Long overhangs allow the sloping hood line to project forwards at the same angle for slim headlights.
That's why you'll notice that new Camry, new Corolla, new 7ES and midlife refreshed 2016-20 4.5GS etc - have greater front overhang and overall length, without any additional interior space - but slimmer headlights...

Next RX looks very similar to next RZ - that hints that RZ must be an EV 4 door coupe?
Albeit with shorter overhangs...

People would have bought the BMW even if the entire car was a grille lol.

There was a little feel in us for waiting on this new gen... Wife loves her RX but is already one foot out after three gens. This is the last drop of water to an already full glass. Good bye RX

Say what? What can RX owners buy now? A Palisade?

I personally think their late subtle change to their grilles is a good change. And a black grille would look nicer on an ultra white for contrast. Same like the black edition on black on the GX. Looks so ugly IMO esps with those tiny 18".

I notice some have a significant space behind the grille. I wonder if they leave space for anticipated frontal collision.

My prediction so far.

This forthcoming RX ICEV is the most conservatively styled to date, and may not sell as well as previous gens of RX ICEV's?

Meanwhile, the forthcoming RZ 4 door coupe EV is a hot looker, and will sell like hot cakes?

Both forthcoming RX & RZ share waist lines, especially under the C pillar area.
The RZ tires & wheels look too big to be a compact based on Toyota bZ - otherwise, they would have called it a Lexus NZ?

Though from another perspective, the RZ could denote compact zero emissions vehicle - just as the RC is a compact coupe!

If I'm not wrong with styling and size on pre-release photos, the RZ has been designed to complement the all new midsize RX in this thread, more so than the all new compact NX released last year? We will find out more on April 20th...
