New one is looking more chiseled than the funky current one

Nice. Current model is a little weird looking. My brother has one and loves it.

more square and blocky is good, just as the new ioniq 5 is growing on me...

The square and blocky front end helps to reduce the FWD front overhang that some brands (Toyota/Lexus) suffer from. It looks nice.

I'm more interested in what's under the hood, and wouldn't be surprised if the NA V6 gets replaced by the 2.5T from the Sorento and lower-level Genesis models.

Usually I would never advocate for a turbo-4 over any 6-cylinder, but the NA V6 in the Palisade is ancient, thirsty, and very underpowered, while the 2.5T is arguably the most powerful turbo 4-pot in a mainstream car. If it can carry the behemoth GV80 to 60 in 6 seconds flat, it'll have no problems carrying this.

If Hyundai downsizes it to a I4t…that is a tragedy. Should be a 6 cylinder.no exceptions

That 2.5T thats in the Santa Fe is really excellent, and the powertrain the Palisade has now feels sluggish in that vehicle. I would probably be down for this swap too. TTV6 would be better but thats just not going to happen.

Current palisade does 6.9 to 60mph. Same as LX600. It is not a sports car

But it feels labored is the point. Once you get accustomed to turbocharged power, NA power feels really sluggish if you aren't driving something with really high horsepower. Drive and Santa Fe with the 2.5T and a Palisade with the V6, the Santa Fe feels a lot snappier.

Driving my Pacifica for instance is painful to me now.

Nice to see people coming around, I've been saying this for several years now on this forum in the Palisade/Telluride threads. That's always been my one knock against the Palisade twins.

turbos have better power delivery especially low in the RPM band so their off the line performance will always be better than NA. now electric on the other hand...but that will digress even more !
