Default Mercedes EQS SUV leaked

I didn't know the R-Class was being revived as an EV.

Even though I still don't care for it, this design language works way better in SUV form in comparison to the Dodge Intrepid-like sedan version.

looks absolutely nothing like it, but mmkay.

it's a tall eqs... obviously. and next, the eqe suv will come out presumably.

it will have worse range (aero) unless bigger battery.

LOL. It's a minivan just like the R-Class. Upright with minimum ground clearance, stubby overhangs, massive rear doors, and a long body.

I wonder what it is about the EQ vehicles that makes Mercedes want to shape them after economy cars like the EQS's aping of a ten year old Civic.

hard to tell the size and scale of it, but this should have been branded as the EQE SUV, similar to the GLE

i agree, because it doesn't look big enough to be the 's' of suv's for them.

Looks odd, like a fattened economy car. Minivan comes to mind

I don't understand how it's an SUV if its so small. I should not be able to see the roof standing next to it

It looks better than the EQS, but still not anything I would want to own for $120,000.

I think they're trying to redefine what the "car of the future" will look like, and so far luckily other designers haven't felt the need to copy them.

They are making the ugliest cars in the EV segment IMO. Literally every other EV made from every other carmaker at every price point is more attractive. Thats really saying something.

Perhaps it's because they're very much tailored specifically to the Chinese market, as was the case with the EQE/EQS. I can easily see how this would appeal to that market when luxury vans/MPV's are all the craze in China.

The proportions are completely due to Mercedes trying to make an aerodynamic design work with their jellybean EQ styling. I don't think it looks like an R-class at all to be honest. Having seen this vehicle in person I was actually more surprised at how similar the shape is to a BMW iX. The styling details are of course extremely different but aerodynamics clearly defined the body shape of both.

Most of these EV SUVs are going to be lower than their ICE equivalents for aerodynamic reasons. The car itself is longer than a Tesla Model X so it is not small. Maybe about 2-3 inches shorter than a GLS but with a longer wheelbase.
