Default OFFICIAL: Manual GR Supra (post 21)

My bet (and what rumors are suggesting) is a manual Zupra!

(The pedal pattern is very BMWish lol)

I'm glad to hear that the years of rumors of the 2023MY having a manual option became true and was always intended to be part of Tetsuya Tada's vision for the GR Supra's production cycle.

I was planning on getting a manual GR86 in the near future but I might end up getting a second GR Supra instead (especially for collector purposes knowing cars like these are all but near extinct).

Here's a press release article:

so early on they were adamant no manual then the Z comes out with a better engine, better pricing, manual choice. Oh hey guys were doing a manual now (screwing over current buyers). Be sure to thank Nissan later.

always intended in the Supra's plan? What changed the plan was Nissan Z offering a far better value car with a manual.

Better engine lol

The B58 is highly underrated, it makes way more power than what it says on paper.
Inline 6 will always be superior to a V6.

I do like the Z styling better than Supra.

^^ This ^^ Nissan has always offered a manual with their Z, so that's nothing new

Agreed on the B58, it is a great engine with a lot of potential. I personally like it better than a V6.

I have owned 2 VR30S and B58s (Q50 / Q60 and 2 MKVs now), as well as run tech sites on both engines. The b58 is superior stock (closed deck, forged cranks, superior DI, etc). Both respond well to mods but you quickly reach the limitations on the VR30. B58 rings and gaskets gets to be an issue at higher HP, but that's about it. All out builds, B58 also has much more support now, but that may change with the Z.

So in general b58 > VR30

I feel the S55 motor is probably the best inline 6 you can buy for modding since the 2JZ.
The internals and cooling is really over engineered on these motors. You can also easily tune them. The only issue is the crankhub if your making over 600hp or so which there is a fix for.

I have the S55 and B58 - both are stock. I have had almost every BMW inline 6 since N54.

S58 can’t be tuned as ECUs are locked for now.
