You are the same person who says a V8 is not needed for the Tundra…

Thats not what I said. I said they don’t need the old V8. I think not having any V8 is a credibility issue for them, and they would have been well served by developing a small displacement TTV8, like what’s in my car, for use as an option in those cars. A TTV8 option with high 400s-500 hp makes those vehicles really a peer of the best of the market.

If you look at Land Rover, they get that. They didn’t want to develop a V8 so they sourced one from BMW. Imagine an LX with the V8 from my car? If the LS had that I may very well still have one. It’s the same as this Sienna, that hybrid powertrain just makes it painful to drive, which is fine for people who don’t love cars or driving.

Ok look. Now I don’t want to get all off topic here lol. I see your point. I hope you see mine. I think a plug in Sienna will appear at some point which will be a more performance oriented model.

If they made a V6 hybrid that got 25-30 mpg and near 300hp, that would version would be the most compelling. It's underpowered right now.

But it has to drive better is the point. That CVT and loud buzzy 4 cylinder just makes the vehicle suck. Driving a minivan sucks enough for it not to sound and feel like that lol

Exactly, like the Pacifica Hybrid. Which is also a plug in.

It has the exact same performance stats as the V6 Carnival.

But it gets much better mileage. And I would
drive a V6 Carnival all day long over a Sienna.

It’s not about performance stats, it’s about the way the powertrain feels and how it performs at highway speeds fully loaded, as a minivan is routinely on a family trip

C&D tested the new Sienna at 7.7s. The Carnival did it in 7s flat. That's a pretty noticeable difference.

And the Carnival is a much nicer place to be during that full throttle acceleration

I agree! We may need to take our existing V8's to our graves with us, which should make a lot of millennials happy.

There will be less and less V8 offerings as manufacturers scramble for greater efficiency, prompted by regulation. In the mean time, our species marches forward with an ever-increasing percentage of CO2 in the atmosphere (sorry future generations).

13 seconds seems like a very flattering figure for the heaviest Egg shaped vehicle on the planet. I recall that my mom was considering trading hers for the supercharged variant once it came out. Ended up with an RX instead.

That's the problem. I no longer have two screaming kids sitting in the back to drown out that annoying engine sound

Toyota makes more gas only RAV4s so of course they outsell the hybrid version. But we all know the Prime and hybrid version of the RAV4 are more in demand than the gas version.

Too bad we can't do a demand comparison between a gas only Sienna and hybrid version.

The next generation Odyssey should still have a V6 so that will be a good alternative to the hybrid only Sienna.

I wonder how much cheaper the price of the Carnival and Pacifica has to be for me to seriously consider it. The fire risks hold me back.

I do have some nostalgia for the first generation Caravan. I used to carpool in one growing up.
