As for the S Class, bear in mind that new the sticker was $125k, but it was buyable for around $100k. Mine was $123k and I paid right at $100k. So, $25k depreciation not $50k but yeah, new lease only. The LS is the same way. My 2017 was $90k new and I got $42k on trade and that was huge. 2015 was $80k and I got $32k on trade. All these cars are just huge depreciation pits.

The engine is pretty darn close, and it’s twin turbo and has a timing chain lol. It actually reminds me a lot of the UZ engines, definitely much smoother and more refined than the UR. It doesn’t idle quite as smoothly but when accelerating it’s incredibly smooth. It’s not really supposed to be as completely isolated as the LS430 was, it feels like a machine…it’s hard to describe.

Im interested to see what you think. My appreciation of it has grown as I’ve had it…I love it more now than I did when I just got it.
I’m sure it will be absolutely ridiculous one of my favorite cars hands down.. I’m just gonna sit in the driver seat and play with everything. He’s gonna let me drive it as well. I can’t wait to see what this ttV8s is like, and the power. He took off with it and broke traction going 20MPH, as in he gunned it after he got up to speed and it broke traction. Amazing.

It's a shame these cars are old now. I love the W140 very much although I'd be very frustrated having to constantly replace everything since they are 25+ years old at this point. That Silver Arrow was a pretty nice model, basically the coupe version of the 140.

Now all you have instead of these awesome models like the R129 and W140 are electronic nightmares.

Doubt you'll be able to find a clean W126. I know that's your favorite S-class.

I know exactly what you mean, they like letting some of the mechanical character through

I had the same thing occur with both the A8 and 460, I like both of them more than when I first got them and that's never happened for me before.

That's very true. Case in point: the horrendous spindle grille. Everyone hated it at first but now that they've seen it for the better part of a decade, they all love it.

Except me. I will never like it.

We’ve heard lol.

I wouldn’t call that a “fine thing”. What I mean is high quality well designed stuff grows on you as you use it…it almost gets better with age (to a point).

Oh I know exactly what you mean, for sure 100%.

What I’m looking forward to is just seeing how arguably the best luxury car from 20 years ago differs, at all, with the basic basic premise a luxury car is supposed to fill. Get you there comfortably, plenty of power, everything so well done and nice you don’t even necessarily notice it right away. There is a certain nasty expansion bump near downtown I’m going to try with it. The LS handles it so gracefully I snicker to myself. The rebound feels just about perfect, literally 10/10.. Can’t imagine in this!

S-Class is hands down the best luxury sedan now. I’m sure it’s beyond fabulous.

Yours. It looks identical it’s just black. I’ll make note of the tires.

Black like most of them? LOL. It does look good in black.

Cool beans. The 20s hurt the ride is why I was asking.

It does, happens a lot for me with my high end guns but this is the first time it occurred with any car for me. Was a pleasant surprise

Ah yes, leather for sure gets far nicer with age. Furniture is take it or leave it for me, after a while it becomes part of the house and I personally tend to look past it lol!

I found another one in a high end part of a city not too far away, the price is dirt cheap. (I don't want to share specifics in case some lurker sees this and tries to steal it) From the pictures it looks clean. Miles are a little high, but the price is verrrrry right and it seems very well cared for, again the guy has no idea what he has. And it comes with a stack of maintenance records. I'm paying my broker friend to handle all this for me but it will be sent to Mercedes for an inspection (any know how much these cost?) and pending a clean bill of health I'll have my dream car in my garage comes Tuesday night. LS, LX, SL Silver Arrow. Dream garage and all paid for. That 5.0 MB V8 is a monster (and old design of theirs, and bulletproof), I was very very impressed with the last one I drove.

AJT123, apparently it is virtually impossible to buy keys for these, so you might want to make sure that it has more than one.
