Thanks for posting this. I remember when these Studebakers were on the streets, and they were considered a bit odd, but IMO they've aged very well and look really interesting these days. Some of their other models have held up well too.

I'm liking the wide white walls.
Never see that anymore.

The one I saw was colored just like this, a ‘57 - ‘58 Golden Hawk. It was really attractive and aged well, as you said. I’ve seen them at shows and auctions, but never “in the wild.” That was a treat.

Some of those mid/late-50s-vintage Studebaker Hawks were rebadged as Packards when the two companies merged. Except that the front end, IMO, was a lot uglier.

Oh my, that is bad.

I did not know about that; much more my dad’s generation of car knowledge than mine. In fact he thought it was pretty cool I saw that Golden Hawk when I texted him about it.

Early/mid-60s Dodge Dart Convertible.

I first learned to drive on its corporate vintage cousin, a Plymouth Valiant, of the same vintage. Plain, no-frills compact cars, but with the notoriously durable Slant-Six engine and Torqueflite transmission. (later drove a next-generation 1968 with the the same engine and a 3-speed manual)

Tom Magliozzi, from the late "Click and Clack" call-in auto-talk show (some of you older fans might remember it) had a '63 Dart convertible like that. He drove for decades before he passed away.

Yep, specifically by brother has the ‘66 GT convertible (grill slightly different). GT was smaller production, has the Commando V8, four-barrel carb. Also has factory air, rare for the a) time and b) a convertible. But it was shipped to Fla so maybe why.

My dad bought it in early ‘86 from the original owner in Clearwater, Fla. He paid $2,500 for it, iirc. A few weeks or a month later he was driving it in St. Pete and while stopped at a light, a guy waved him over and offered him $5k JUST for the two plastic/chrome “GT” emblems on the front fenders. Apparently rare and go on other Dodge muscle cars; impossible to find in order to make a complete original (he did not sell them).

I saw this at the store the other day and thought I'd de-badge it and post it up.

What am I?

And that kind of stuff is precisely why I left Florida when I finished high school.
