this is the Smokey and bandit TA
Yes, agreed....on a technicality. The '77 headlights and grille/front end were indeed a little different from the '79. Most people, though, when they think of a "Smokey" T/A, think of more or less any dark-colored T/A from the late 70's with the Chicken on the Hood.

BTW, my friend has gotten a lot of offers for that T/A, but, of course, is hanging on to it. He still drives it to Old-GM and classic/antique car shows.

Back in the day my friend had the Firebird Trans Am with the 6.6L with side pipes.
He was always putting money into it and taking it to the 1/4 mile drag strip on the weekends and some ...cough... side racing. ahem lol

He was telling me how he pulled the engine and had it "blueprinted and balanced" and tons of mods pushing out near 600hp suposedly.
When he got to the strip he revved it up and dropped the clutch and blew his already heavy duty transmission, again lol

Guess he finally got tired of working on it when he bought himself a new Camaro I-Roc Z and from that day on left it bone stock, except the bass thumping stereo mods.

You must have missed the reboot, with a 1980 turbo. Yeah, nowhere near as popular as the original. The turbo was also a pile of junk. 9 sec's 0-60, etc...

Didn’t miss it, never saw it so it doesn’t exist. It’s better that way.

An old Audi model (in those days, it was called Auto-Union)...but I'm not sure which specific model.

The four rings in the middle of the grille give it away.

I disagree. The four circles in the grille give it away. I can't pin down the specific Audi (Auto Union) model, though.

I looked it up, you're right that is an Audi technically. 2-stroke engine.

M&M did it again! It's a1959 DKW Auto Union! I know nothing about it. I saw it on Craigslist in San Francisco and thought it might stump the audience. Skimming through the pics, the interior looked very similar to my 59 bug. So, I figured it was German and the Audi "rings" logo backed-up my hunch.

I'm not sure what amazes me more.
How far these cars have come from their humble beginnings or man's desire for more, more, more.
When is it good enough? lol

The term "Audi" is an abbreviation for how the former "Auto Union" brand is pronounced in German. Eventually, Audi became part of the VW empire.

That is a Bristol, my late godmother's family had one as she was from Wales and remember her showing some pictures from her visiting there in the 1970s
