Wonder if that is the same Bristol company that has produced a number of British civilian and military aircraft? My guess is yes.

That's not what Audi says the origin of the name is:

The company established by August Horch in Zwickau on July 16, 1909 could not take its founder's name for competitive reasons. A new name was found for the company by translating Horch’s name, which in German means "hark!" or "listen!", into Latin. The second company established by August Horch therefore commenced trading as Audi Automobilwerke GmbH, Zwickau on April 25, 1910.

😀 it really doesn’t. tex2670 is correct above. My wife worked for Audi for 6 years and I still have the hardback official history book they all got given by Audi AG for the centenary in 2009.
The four rings represent the four companies,Audi, DKW, Horch and Wanderer that merged and became Auto Union AG
Volvo is similar, coming from the Latin meaning “I roll”.

You’re quite right, Bristol Cars was an offshoot of the aeroplane manufacturer. They had one showroom in London, selling hand built cars, using Chrysler V8s since the 60’s. They went into administration in 2011.

Shocked to see this in a parking lot near me. Has new plates on it likely a freshly restored car it is spectacular. No use hiding what this is most car nuts will know. Interior looks to be done period correct except for a few gauges. Anyone know if this was a Datsun colour? Would have loved to chat with the owner.
