But, it is obvious that if more cars had been designed like this back then, a lot of deaths and injuries could have been prevented.
Most people don't realize how terribly unsafe cars used to be. And for the people that did survive a crash they often had horrific injuries.
In addition to simply not having enough capital for the project, Preston Tucker was also the target of a major smear-campaign from the major auto manufacturers, some Members of Congress, and Drew Pearson, a well-known investigative journalist at the time.
Some things never change the same thing is happening now but we won't talk about that.
Can anyone confirm if it's a g-wagon and approximate year?
I'll verify it for you. That's DEFINTELY a G-Wagon (Gelandewagen) although it is difficult to assess the model-year because the same basic vehicle was built from 1979 until very recently. It was originally designed for the German/Austrian military.
your favorite brand buick's reatta was much better looking imo.
Yep, good call, it's an early-90s Capri....a Miata wanna-be competitor except with FWD and a small back seat. It never really hit on with the public here in the U.S., and did not sell well.
The Reatta, like many GM products of that period, was poorly-made, and, IMHO, not worthy of the Buick nameplate. It was also a classic two-seater, not with a package-shelf back seat like the Capri.
