Is your speedometer accurate? I decided to use Waze the other day and noticed mine is about 2-3 miles over Waze. I wasn't sure which one was right but thought it was odd to be different. I also noticed same thing with the speed check panel on the road. Are all OEM speeds like this, a few miles over the actual speed?

It depends on the manufacturer. All my Toyota/Lexus models were about 2MPH fast, so when it read 70 I was really going about 68. My Pacifica and my other Chryslers have always been dead on, my Mercedes is about 1MPH fast.

Same here. My Audis were fast with the stock tire size, if you bump up to 275/40/20 it is dead on. My Chryslers are dead on, Toyota is fast

Good to know. So when the testers like MT, CD... test 0-60 and so on, do they use the car's speedometer and a stopwatch or they use an external device like a speed check?

My speedo is almost exactly off by 2 MPH running stock tires.

It's funny how certain vehicles tend to manifest the same problems. For example, when was the last time you heard a Toyota Previa that didn't have a distinctive exhaust whistle sound? In fairness, I haven't even heard or seen a Previa in quite a while, but when I do see them, I hear them first lol.

BMW is notorious for inaccurate speedos, or they were, to slow people down I guess. And it was way more than a 2MPH error. It was pretty significant.

That has not been my experience through multiple generations.

I've read about it many times. But I've never owned one.

I would highly doubt that, I'm sure they are within a couple MPH

Every BMW I’ve owned has been 3mph off by the time it reaches an indicated 70mph, dating back to my first one in 2004.

I would buy that given Toyotas are 2MPH off. That’s not “way more” than a 2MPH gap
