My dad got them cheap and rough condition needing lots of work and fixed them up for daily driver.
Kids at school thought we were rich seeing that MB grill pulling up but we were faaaar from that.
From your pic.

I like the W210 AMG the best looks wise but the W124 500 is probably the one I would pick. I am not sure, it's hard to choose between them

I'm into classic Toyota's (owning, restoring/selling) and sometimes other brands I don't have time for a cream puff new car. Soon will probably buy a Tesla or some other EV but not for me. Been instructed not to talk about it if people saw my post before ninja edit you know what's up.

love the W210... but it somehow doesn't have that timeless classic look of the W124, and doesn't have the modern classic look and tech of the W211
my favorite tidbit about the W210 is how the AMG model is possibly the most AMG of all the AMGs ever, for the reason that much of the major assembly was done in the AMG factory in affalterbach
every AMG model after that just had its powertrain assembled shipped to the standard production line, but the W210 E55 wasn't put together with the rest of the E-Classes

something about there just being sooo much history behind that, and it legit does help you gauge how much room there is to pull up when you're parking lol

I don't think the classic Mercedes hood ornament is cheesy at all. If you want cheese ball look at spindle grille and now L E X U S is eye sore-ing up the back end.

the W124 E500 also has that whole porsche thing going on which is kinda cool... this is also the gen that had 'the hammer' which one could argue is the most direct ancestor to all modern AMG cars

Yeah those are super neat. You would need the lottery too, considering how expensive they are to maintain. Just the gas alone for that thing would bankrupt me lol
I love the 210 because of the 4 headlights and it was right before all that tech started filtering to cars. It has a nice old school feel to it while still being modern enough.
I also don't see why Lexus feels the need to copy everyone and spell their name out like that. The L was enough and it was a clean, perfect design. Again, companies think they need to be bold and progressive.
I thought Lexus putting their badge on the hood was a great design. I wonder what a 430 or 460 would look like.
I've been told to stop going on about the spindle grille, so I will refrain from commenting on it. Lol

I too think its a mistake for Lexus to chase other less established carmakers and change the way they badge their vehicles in the back. It shows weakness and a lack of confidence in their brand.
As for the Mercedes hood ornament, I love it. When I was a kid I LOVED hood ornaments, sitting behind the 3 pointed star at the end of the hood is really something special...

+1 on the "L E X U S" bs print being the actual cheese. The classic "Lexus" font has prestige.

Are you kidding? The hood ornament is the damn best part of a Mercedes. I like the hood bulges my LS430 has but no hood emblem would ever work on a car like that, it's just a Mercedes thing. Jealous.
