Does she drive aggressively? If so SL 100% but if she is after the emotion and isn't going to push it like crazy the LC is amazing

No no, honestly the Lexus would be the much better choice. Looks way better, NA screamer V8, Lexus reliability, and they FOR DAMN SURE put lottttts of money into that interior.

I mentioned in here long ago I ordered a SL63 as soon as I could. I was unsatisfied with the color combo I ordered (not because of the absurd amounts of orange peel it had ) so I flipped it and am now sitting here with a projected 8 month long wait for my next order. For the record, I loved the LC but honestly it could not hold a candle to the SL's breadth. This is less of a concern for a 72 year old but I will add that the SL has better visibility. I can answer questions you may have. Here's the color combo I'm going with now, which I should've done from the beginning:

I would choose the LC convertible, personally unless the better tech in the SL was really a big deal to you.

What other cars has she had in the past, I wouldn't call an Enclave a enthusiast car
That's a SL55* and I find it amusing you think it looks too short given it's longer than the previous gen. I personally found the R231 to be gross and only marginally helped by the facelift. Ugly overhangs and an interior that became dated very quickly. Great drive though.

Yeah I got what you were saying, you can just get the CD for your collection and save the ripped lossless files to your phone...

She's gonna do what she wants but I'm gonna try to steer her toward the Lexus, it sure looks way better and I doubt she'd have any trouble with it.
To me the LC is a very special car. I just don't see anything special about the new SL...its a great car I'm sure...

No doubt the SL is a better drivers car.

I chose a picture of an SL55 because I figured thats what she would compare the LC to. I don't love the R231s either, but they look like SLs, they have that long lowness about them. Nothing against the R232, it just doesnt say "Mercedes SL" to me.

EDIT, I noticed I typed SL53 above my pic, no clue why I did that lol

As an aside, it's a shame these don't come in V8:

It is on my must-have list. I find them to be beautiful and I love the restraint in the interior as well.

i saw that very same color combination. I agree. LC is nice but somehow this is different. The only plus the lc has imo is it can be kept for a long time. Are you saying you are 72 or this is for a 72 year old in your family? The guy in that SL is around that age too. I guess I can still get one. I have time to work and save up for it.

The 72 year old in question is AJT123's mother.

Haha oh yeah. I need to get this forum an update on her next time I visit, she seems to be having a blast with her i7. My grandfather told me she has taken up 3 hours of the dealer's time learning how to use the car.

To me the LC's plus is its looks. Its one of if not the most beautiful cars on the road IMO, it looks special and unique. This SL to me just looks like a nice MB convertible that will be forgotten once its time comes and goes. Future car collections will have an LC...

So I've been driving my father-in-law's 2013 X5 for a while. The passenger side wiper chatters really loudly on the way up. I tried cleaning it and don't think it's really old. Anyone have an idea what else can be done? I saw a youtube video where the guy bent the arm a bit to make them sit squarely on the windshield since his was tilted against the direction on the way up.

Yeah that's part of the long time - reliability and being outdated by next generation.

Scrub the windshield really well…
