I still haven't forgiven Cadillac for installing these in the SRX and ATS:
I actually like a speedometer like that .......in 10-MPH increments instead of 20. Makes it easier to read at a glance. Most vehicles, today, do it in 20s instead of 10s.

Thats absolutely the exact set of gauges I was referring to! That’s hilarious. They were heavily criticized. But gauges can also be done so ridiculously right, hello Lexus. I’m in the car now waiting.
The screen there is nice and vibrant flanked by classic analogs. I lovvvve the redundant digital speedometer. I never look at the dial.

Just a really bad (or good) example of GM being GM.
Those are cheap, unattractive, and look like they belong in the cheapest Chevy….not Cadillacs.

You're right about visibility/usability. I rarely look at the speedometer to see how fast I'm going. That's why the humongous digital number is there and on HUD when equipped.

It's notable that even Cadillac themselves noted gauge clusters were going to be a focus area for them after all the uproar over this gauge cluster.
You're not wrong. Some of American car clusters are just plain cheap.

so what's the point in having the large mechanical dial that takes up so much space then? the beauty of modern digital gauges is you can usually select a variety of styles.
but yeah that cadillac design is about the worst of all worlds. using digital to mimic analog in a fixed way. #fail

.
It's hard to explain. It would be on any car, not just mine. I like that LX is somewhat modern but then old-school. Like I like having the handbrake there, on top of all the still modern off road tech. I'm just weird and/or dorky about things but I've ALWAYS wanted a redundant speedo. That was one thing early late 90s-2000s Cadillac one upped Lexus on when they copied their gauges, they were equally attractive but had a really nice digital redundant too.

Cadillac can be a little cheesy sometimes. lol
It looks off but I can't put my finger on exactly why yet.

That helps a little but it's missing something or has something it shouldn't.
Maybe the color is a little on the obnoxious side and I like blue when done well but it's something more than the color.

my santa fe has lots of cool layouts.
Definitely hashtag fail making digital gauges look like analog, kinda poser in a way.
Bro I own an SL roadster I’ve taken to nearly 140. There isn’t much difference in high speed stability between the two.
Curvy roads at high speeds may be a different story, but in terms of just freight training it down the interstate at high speed, LS430 can roll with the best.
Just like the Mercedes, the faster you go the better it feels. If only the speed limits were 100. Both cars feel/track amazing at that speed.
