i was thinking about this driving my lc the other day. obviously not the fastest sporty car by any means, but for me it's 'plenty' fast enough (0-60 mid 4s). i can approach triple digits on any road in a few seconds. and with intoxicating sounds when you hit it. and with the rear steer, lsd, and variable steering, i just LOVE how it goes around corners. it's like a heavy go kart but still surprisingly flat and capable. and when you have to be 'sensible' it's a smooth quietish cruiser.
For me the feel I want is power at all times, speeds, and mid corner or full lock pulling out of a entrance etc....high cornering loads and high braking loads as well.Just an all around assault is great, a lower power car is lacking in some of that. I also like high end sedans since when you are done they are extremely nice to just waft around in.

probably about 12 years ago a neighbor got a new 911 turbo stick. he let me take it for a spin. there's a mostly empty 4 lane smooth divided highway nearby. the 911 had a 6 speed stick. i decided to go for it and the car was over 100 in THIRD GEAR in the blink of an eye. where am i going to go from there? 130 in 4th, 170 in 5th? or whatever. car was so blindingly fast it was ultimately boring. there was no challenge. and not even really enough time to appreciate what was happening. is the performance amazing? i guess, but to me it's just a complete waste on public roads.

Unbelievable amount of fun to drive, I still remember it like it was yesterday.
Just to add to the "being young" part. I used to LITERALLY play ALL of my music on FULL blast, 100% of the time when I was young.
I remember thinking "this will NEVERRRRRRR change" and I really thought it wouldn't. Now I'm an old geezer, I like silence a lot of the time. But don't get me wrong I still will blare music when I want to. It's just crazy to me that I actually thought I would ALWAYS play music at full blast. Hellll no!

File under highly likely that no one cars. I had a 2016 IS350 F Sport which was my third Lexus. LFS would not budge on the lease buyout so they got the car back. I then leased a 2019 Honda Civic Sport Touring, which I guess is the most you can spend on any Civic that’s not a Type R. I expected to commute, but Covid radically changed all of that, so I had a 30 mpg car (on the low end) that I don’t drive much.
I thought I would hate the CVT, but I don’t. It keeps the turbo engaged. My drive down from Kernville was really a boot in the *** on the mountain side. It’s twisty. This is my first FF car and first Honda. It has RSR down springs and 19s with lots of rubber on the road.
Lease ended in December and I extended it month to month. The six month extension runs out in a week, so I bought it out and now own the car free and clear. Maybe not everyone’s cup of tea, but here’s Marvel.
Photo composition leaves a lot to be desired lol.

Those are great cars! Congrats
Yeah LFS will never negotiate a lease buyout, they just won't. BMW will....MB wont...

Congrats Link! Those are fun cars. "The Straight Pipes" guys on Youtube just did a Civic vs Accord comparison. They stated that no matter the trim...they were always happy to drive a Civic. I dream of having a Type R, but I think where I live would not be the best place to enjoy a manual unfortunately. Enjoy your mountain drives!

really sounds like you should have a tesla model s plaid with track package. ticks all your boxes.

The LC is amazing, but ask yourself would it still be as amazing with 1/2 the power?

It really doesn't, handles badly and is unrefined vs a German car at speed or when really pushed. Plus I just outright hate them since you can't do anything with them and for that much money I want far more speed.

if you want to do an awd drift around a roundabout, you have to be flying and i believe that's dangerous to anyone else who might be around, but that's just my opinion. i don't know if you have kids or plan to, but if/when you do, would you be ok with them driving the way you do?
